Kicking off my return with a two-day salute to DJ Turquoise Wisdom, who supported Animal Collective on their West Coast shows, including one for the books in a misty forest fairyland that appeared out of nowhere last Wednesday. Last Thursday, the guys of Animal Collective made a rare appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman . They performed "Summertime Clothes," which is a cut off of their latest album, Merriweather Post Pavilion , released back in January. I'm actually pretty surprised at how unusually normal looking they were for their performance. With their ecclectic style of experimental folk music, you would kind of expect them to be donning masks/capes/costumes/huge beards for their live set (see above) — but no, instead they chose to rock your standard hoodie. Great performance of Animal Collective playing "Summertime Clothes" on Letterman last night. I don't know what the hell is going on with the background dancers though. Animal Collective made their Letterman debut last night playing the fantastic Summertime Clothes. They went the normal route this time, playing one of the fan favorites rather than one of their weirdest tracks (like when they played #1 on Conan). The performance was really great, pretty spot on if you ask me. I loved his vocals during the "When the sun goes down" part. The dancers were a bit bizarre. I wonder how this performance will help their popularity. I doubt they give a shit anyway. I will be seeing them in less than a week at Terminal [...]
Letterman was graced with a special guest last night when Animal Collective dropped by to play their smashing single " Summertime Clothes ." Quite appropriate, seeing how the most beautiful season is right around the corner. Anyway, their live performance was unexpectedly ... mediocre. Avey, Panda and Geo weren't at all in shape for some reason. They were just sitting behind their tablets, pressing a few buttons, while humming the harmonies.
