I've got the track "Here's The Girl" by Melbourne duo Harmless stuck in my head right now.  Its the first single from the upcoming debut album Water Feature by collaborators Cesar Rodrigues (Blue King Brown) and Monty Mackenzie (Cleverhorse) who've "weaved together a heady mix of traditional instrumentation, found sounds and loops into this multi-faceted track".   Try it out in mp3 and video form below. If you're a Busdriver fan, this is probably too reverent a cover for you. Animal Collective's Sung Tongs classic "Leaf House" is here in the hands of the quickfire rap specialist, but it's not really in his mouth at all. Sure, Busdriver sings out those melodies and ascending/descending scalar runs set to a more punchy, Loden-produced take on the original's tribal-psych movement. But if you're expecting an infusion of tongue twirling lyrical schemes, you will be disappointed. The single's b-side is the Flying Lotus produced "Lady Place," which is a space where Busdriver will likely operate [...]

Exclusively filmed with an Android smartphone, the always entertaining and out-there L.A. emcee Busdriver has dropped an incredibly dope cover of "Leaf House" from Animal Collective's 2004 LP,  Sung Tongs. The acoustics from the original track are stripped away in favor of many layers of synth, and Busdriver pays a great respect to Panda Bear by giving the vocals his own unique spin. As for the video? As amusing as Animal Collective's. Tacky sweaters, animal puppets, and a tent that reminds me of the playground parachute I used to love playing with in elementary school. Those were the days. [...]

Animal Collective headlined this past weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. Fans who couldn't make it to the festival can stream the band's entire set above. Enjoy.

This one will probably get pulled pretty fast so I'd definitely recommend jumping on this video while it's still alive. It's a solid Animal Collective performance front to back if you ask me. I typically don't post a lot of live performances here, but this particular one from Panda Bear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon really caught my eye this morning. Tomboy producer Sonic Boom also joined him for "You Can Count On Me" last night to the backdrop of some dazzling psychedelic visuals that synced perfectly with the song. The hypnotic rhythm of "You Can Count On Me", one of my favorites from the new album, reminds me of Huxley's description of the "breathing walls" from The Doors of Perception, something I'd like to think Noah Lennox had on [...]

Animal Collective member Panda Bear (born Noah Lennox) and the music he makes as can be leave people very divided. NBC, presumably unsure how to temper Lennox's experimental music, offered a slide show of 15 pandas without comment in honor of his television debut. Mad cute, but it might be taking away from the issue at hand, namely this polarizing chillwave godfather's performance. Lennox performed the opening track, "You Can Count On Me" from his latest solo LP Tombo y with the help of frequent collaborator Sonic Boom tinkering on the synths [...]
