1 cruise ship, 4 days, 42 bands, 2,000 fans! Yes, I had to do it again! 70,000 Tons of Meta l, 2012! I had such a great time last year that I had to go for a reprise and see what would happen! I've got a photo album here with many more photos, and this entry is the companion to my radio show, airing Thursday Feb 2nd at noon. When the archive is posted, it will be linked here . It's true, I had a lot of prior experience, so I had already been [...]
First, a little backstory. Back in 2006, Darkest Hour was making the promotional rounds for their latest disc, Undoing Ruin. I was working for my shitty college paper, doing a show preview for DH's show in Omaha, Nebraska and emailed Kris requesting an interview. He called me five minutes after I sent the email. That's [...]
Adimiron K2 Label - Bakerteam Records Release date - January 2012 If writing about a new Gojira album ain't happening here (the point of this exercise is to expose metal bands on the rise), then I suppose Italy's Adimiron will do. But maybe that's a little unfair to say — based on snippets alone, the [...]
If yesterday was the day for 2012 new album updates, today is the day for dudes quitting bands. Which always sucks. Nevertheless, here's what's been happening over the past 24 hours or so: Did drummer Ryan Parrish leave Darkest Hour? In yesterday morning's news round-upwe reported on news we received via press release that ex-DH [...]
Today is seemingly "news about albums that are coming out in early 20123 day. To that end: Soilwork are writing a new album called The Living Infinite. Generic quote time: Speed Strid says that "people can expect a continuation of the intensity and presence of The Panic Broadcast, only taken to a higher level" and [...]

Hear The Track HereIn the space of some ten tracks and a year or so, Weylin's Slayer Orchestra has gone from an eh? to a ******* A, if you know what I mean. Took me a while to get where this heavy metal head was taking me but once it clicked, he's been very consistent at piquing my curiosity. The problem is soundtrackery and all its attendant horrors. Weylin, however, goes into an entirely

One of the most relentless dubstep duos the world has ever been confronted with, 16Bit truly has no mercy. A London tag team made up of Eddie Jefferys and Jason Morrison, they transformed the dark and experimental Surge by Brazil's Amon Tobin into a gut-wrenching riot starter. Initiating with deep breaks and strings, the beat collapses at 1:18 into an drop made to rattle the foundations. Standing out for their brand of dark sound, 16Bit grew to fame last year with their remix of Machine Gun [...]

I've been e-buds with Kristen Kail for a while now. Not long ago he started devoting his attention to a new project, a podcast with his cohort Andrew Teller called Destroy All Slackers . Now personally, I'm not really big into the podcast scene. I gave DAS a chance however and was pleasantly surprised. If you are into video games, fart jokes, and a lot of other random stuff then you just might be into it as well. The podcast [...]

Anyone who was unfortunate enough to have well-meaning-yet-clueless relatives knows the feeling of disappointment. After weeks of anticipation, staring at the shiny boxes under the Christmas tree and wondering what's inside, you eagerly tear open your presents. What lies inside? GI Joes? Transformers?? A BB gun? A new Nintendo?!? Mind racing and adrenaline pumping, you [...]

0510 hours. Near total darkness only broken when the low lying clouds part enough to allow a sliver of moonlight. My combat team is currently reconnoitering any activity on the other side of the US/Canadian border from a fortified position located in Peace Arch State Park outside of Blaine, Washington. Our mission is simple. We are to prevent any incursion on US soil by enemy combatants intent on capturing the hearts and minds of our citizenry. I lay my night vision goggles down to receive a new scouting report over my secure radio. [...]

Canadian metal band Annihilator is the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters. Founded in 1984, the band took the metal scene by storm with their debut 1989 release "Alice In Hell", upped the ante with 1990's "Never, Neverland" and finished off their 3-record deal (Roadrunner Records) with "Set The World On Fire". While most late-80's era metal bands disappeared, Annihilator went on to forge 9 more studio cds, dvds and live releases, all consistently selling well and remaining true to the heavy metal cause. Tours with everyone from Judas Priest to Pantera to Trivium plus dozens of [...]
"In our opinion, Deepgroove's tracks keep getting better and better. Annihilate is simply a beast of a techno track that will drive any dancefloor into a frenzy The remixes are impressive as well with Ed Banger man Brodinski injecting some funk and bounce into his version and Remute re-jigging it into a non-nonsense big room [...]
