After the release and record breaking success of  Random Access Memories , Daft Punk fans immediately began anticipating the rumored remix album - hopeful that top-level talent would be commissioned to rework the robots latest work of art. It's hard to fathom exactly what $35 million will buy you in festival production these days, but it's certainly no small sum. Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella told the  New York Post  that they'll be "stepping it up [ EDC Las Vegas ] year," and focusing the "largest percentage of [the] money [on] production" - a statement that falls right in line with Insomniac's priority to cater to the fans as "headliners" rather than superstar DJs. After experimenting with different sounds in their last EP  Hot Sauce , Zeds Dead  are back with another EP and this time they're giving it away for free. The four track EP Altered States  features contributions from Zeds Dead, Green Lantern, Branchez bootleg, and Paper Diamond , making it near impossible to pick a genre to label it. For their latest installment of Defected in the House , Defected Records has, perhaps surprisingly to some, asked the mighty Loco Dice to contribute a compilation. As the teaser video below suggests, both Defected and Loco Dice are big and bold enough to avoid pigeonholing and the compilation is sure to push boundaries for both techno and house. Dice has thrown in music from exciting artists like Kyle Hall and Marcel Dettmann and (excitingly for Desolat fans) is also including four exclusives off the label. Fresh off the release of their well received album Settle , the Disclosure duo have plans to return to the US with a twelve stop coast-to-coast tour. Things are set to kicks off in early October at Showbox Market in Seattle, and will make their way east over the course of the month, concluding at Union Theater in Philadelphia. T. The third wave of artists for this year's Electric Zoo on Randall's Island in New York has just been announced. After being host to countless events including the Winter White tour with David Guetta, city officials in Albany, New York have recently moved to ban dance music events from being held at The Washington Avenue Armory, the 15,000 square foot auditorium that served as Upstate New York's EDM mecca. Using semantics as leverage, city officials claimed that due to the venue being zoned as an auditorium the massive general admission dance parties were against city regulations - citing that an auditorium implies fixed seating and that the venue had simply become a large, illegal nightclub. Following in the footsteps of Zedd and David Guetta, the dub-punk trio Krewella have received their first gold record for the crossover hit "Alive." Off the trio's debut EP, Krewella's breakout production has spent over 32 weeks on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts, earning itself a number 1 spot earlier this month.  The track has also broken through the top 10 for Pop Airplay charts, further reinforcing not only Krewella's crossover appeal but electronic music's rampant assimilation into the mainstream psyche. Dance music extraordinaire and recent Michael Jackson-record breaker ,  Calvin Harris  has shelled out a reported $7 million on a Hollywood Hills home. At 4,000 square feet, Calvin's new mansion features four bedrooms, seven baths, an infinity pool with panoramic views of Los Angeles, and a home theatre - just to name a few of the top-of-the-line amenities. It's been reported that the producer payed a large sum upfront, taking out a mortgage of $4.9 million dollars.
