Tim Fite has premiered the new video form Ain't Ain't Ain't , due out on Anti- Records on March 6, 2012 . Fite explained the concept: The video for "We Are All Teenagers" tells the story of an old man who is pleasantly confused by his own reflection. Whenever he looks in the mirror, he sees himself as a teenager. Emboldened by this reflective anomaly, the old man swipes his daughter's car keys, and sneaks out of the house for a bit of late night joyriding. Ditching [...]

Busdriver is a weirdly talented while also being just straight up weird. On "Me-Time," his flo is in overdrive and channels a crazed stream of consciousness that touches on everything from the credit crunch to aliens. Though difficult to keep up with him, Busdriver's ability to shift tempo gears is remarkable and this track showcases it very well.

One of the my most memorable concerts was seeing Tim Fite in Boston in 2005 opening for Iron & Wine and Calexico. Fite has uncanny strange presence and engages crowds through bizarre bits of video accompaniment and storytelling in between songs. The majority of the crowd wasn't there to see the relatively unknown artist, but most of us left with his debut album in hand. It's hard to categorize Fite, who has done everything from folk to hip-hop, but underneath it all is surprisingly powerful songwriting. On March 6th, the Brooklyn artist will be releasing his third [...]

We caught Tinariwen back in July on the North American leg of their tour at the Troubadour . - The dessert is jealous - TV On the Radio's Kyp Maloneshe soothes on "Tenere Taqqim Tossam." She gives and she takes. One of the best aspects of Tinariwen is that even if you can't understand a thing that they're saying you can't happen to feel connected to their powerful story telling ability. There are more commonalities between urban and Saharan life than one would imagine. They have experienced the human condition; whether [...]

It's hard to believe Dr. Dog has been around for over ten years now, but the Philly retro-rockers just keep rolling. The band, always known for their killer live show, has been fine-tuning their revivalist sound in the studio the past decade and posted a great effort in 2010 with Shame, Shame . Despite a relentless tour schedule in '11, Dr. Dog has managed to produce a follow-up. Be The Void is the group's sixth studio and second on ANTI- . Check out a video for [...]

UK hardcore alumnus and singer songwriter Frank Turner has reported, via his Facebook status , that none other than Billy Bragg will be supporting him at London's Wembley Arena , on the 13th of April, 2012. Turner writes: "Absolutely over the moon to be able to announce that the legendary Billy Bragg will be playing with me at Wembley next year!" Both musicians have spoken at length about how punk ideals they came to in their youth affect their work (Bragg as a Clash fan, Turner through hardcore), both mix [...]

While it's not a great deal to go on, the Promise Ring have resurfaced, but only in the form of an official Twitter feed . Very little has been heard from the influential band since they split up in 2002 after releasing Wood/Water on Anti- Records . In the intervening years, the band reunited in 2005 , and 50% of the band appeared in Maritime and released a handful of records including Human Hearts [...]
Tom Waits has posted the video for "Satisfied" from his 2011 Anti- Records release, Bad As Me . Waits describes the song as " an evangelical litany of life affirmation ."The video, directed by Jesse Dylan, is a stripped down B&W backyard dance with Waits singing the track.
Here's a very direct, no-nonsense dealing directed by Bob's son Jesse Dylan and starring Tom Waits himself. This is the very first official flick from Waits' newest album Bad As Me , and was released first thing this morning. In a simple but effective black and white tone, Waits cavorts expertly around a carnival scenario in his recognized salesman-under-a-street-lamp stance. If he tours in 2012, I'd expect a similarly theatrical and visual stage show, complete with street lamp and dirt. Tom Waits - 'Satisfied' [...]
