By now most folks know where I stand on the present sensitive folk movement. Mainly that I’m over it. So today I thought I would prove I'm capable of more than just bitching and post some bands I actually like. And no, none of them formed in the 90’s. In my latest search for bands [...] The post Songs I like: Ladies Night appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .
A Place To Bury Strangers' exclusive Record Store Day release "Strange Moon," is a tribute to Portland punk veterans Dead Moon on 123 colored vinyl (for those vinyl fetishists out there). In conjunction with the record, the band released this statement: "I first saw Dead Moon perform around 1992. Dead Moon was my friends favorite band and soon to become one [...] The post A Place to Bury Strangers does Dead Moon, and the Question of Covers appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .

A Place To Bury Strangers played a set on Sunday down at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas and are scheduled to be all the way up in San Francisco just three days later – yes, tonight – to headline a gig at The Independent. I caught up with them to find out how their latest album Worship is being received out on the road, and to get their 30-second pitch on why San Franciscans need to come out and see them down on Divisadero. Check out the interview, above, and let's [...]

Brooklynite noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers are back with a video for the blistering track "And I'm Up", off their 2012 album Worship . The video, directed by frontman Oliver Ackermann's animator brother Karl, features a series of toys getting burned, blown up, and run over. The director explained his take on the song and idea for the video: For me "And I'm Up" is about coming of age. Burning toys seemed like it'd be an apt metaphor, fun and easy to shoot, and cool to [...]

I'm pretty sure we all did this as kids. Took our favorite plastic army men and He-man toys, lined them up for battle, doused them in gasoline and lit a match. Whoever was left standing was the winner. There was no better form of entertainment and the army men always seemed limitless no matter how many you burned. Although I do have to say that this battle of the toys in A Place To Bury Strangers new video for "And I'm Up' really trumps any battle that I could've ever thought up. The overuse of [...]
Here's another entertaining video from A Place to Bury Strangers . This one is for the song And I'm Up from the album Worship . APTBS plays Empty Bottle November 14.
A Place To Bury Strangers' video for " And I'm Up " consists entirely of toys being burned, exploded, crushed, and generally destroyed with extreme prejudice. Masters Of The Universe figures seem to get it especially bad. And as any child with a healthy nihilistic streak can tell you, this shit is super-fun to watch. Karl Ackermann, brother of frontman Oliver, directs. Watch it below. Read More...
