"Islands" by We Were Lovers , from their forthcoming album, Pyramids . Duo Ash Lamothe and Elsa Gebremichael have mastered a pop balance infusing electro, dreamy, rock and disco elements. Music makers all over the world are invited to remix We Were Lovers ' single "Islands" for it's official upcoming release. The selected winner will receive $200 plus have their remix released nationally with the single. The runner up will have their remix released nationally [...]

5 Songs is a weekly series where we point out the strange, the grand, and the unique connections between our favorite songs. Let’s get weird. Words by Chris There’s a fine line between bashing you over the head and cradling your imagination. There’s also a blend of seething irony that can make or break a whole vision. I’m thinking of the Obama Administration using “Fake Empire” by The National as a song for [...]

In keeping with the holiday spirit, Arcade Fire has set out to help raise money for Kanpe , an organization helping to rebuild Haiti. The band has promised to match donations up to $300,000. Along with helping raise money for Haiti, band members Régine Chassagne and Win Butler have stated that they will send a personally signed postcard to each individual that donates. On their website lead singer Butler wrote: Hi Guys, This is Win from Arcade Fire. If you are having a hard time deciding what to get your friends [...]

Arcade Fire @ Jazz Fest 2011 | Photo by Justin Ward I was pretty blown away by this write-up in the Guardian by Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire about the band's first time in Haiti playing a concert. This is my third time here, but our first as a band. As we unload the equipment I can't stop noticing how they really pulled out all the stops to welcome us. On the dusty soccer field the town has built a wooden stage, with another crafted [...]
Arcade Fire had a busy weekend in New Orleans. Along with an onstage collaboration with Cyndi Lauper , the band's appearance at this year's New Orleans Jazz Festival also saw Win and Régine join Haitian band RAM for a rendition of - you guessed it - "Haiti". Check out the clip above (via @arcadefiretube ). The two bands have collaborated quite a bit over the last year. Last summer, Arcade Fire and RAM teamed up for a performance of "Haiti" during the Quebec City Summer Fest - unfortunately, as far as I can [...]
Filed under: News Kevin Winter, Getty Images Arcade Fire have been known to make drums and percussive instruments out of just about anything handy -- from pots and pans to stage rigging -- and so far, it's worked to their favor. But they almost blew it in Haiti recently when, right before an informal performance in a refugee camp, frontman Win Butler scrambled to find a makeshift drum. "I spotted two red [...]

No curto vídeo [...]

Arcade Fire: "The Last Time" (Rolling Stones) The Arcade Fire performed a surprise show in Haiti this week. While there, they did covers of CCR, the Rolling Stones, Cinci Lauper and Blondie. Aside from being a very cool thing to do, this gives us a couple covers to add to the Arcade Fire covers archive. [...]
