Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner spent the last few months not only recording a new album with his band but also writing five solo originals for a small film called Submarine (directorial debut of Richard Ayoade). Arctic Monkeys have announced the details of their fourth studio album, entitled Suck It and See the record will be released on Friday the 3rd of June via Domino Records . The first track released from the Arctic Monkeys ' forthcoming 2011 release for the track "Brick By Brick" finds the band diving deeper into classic rock territory. In other "monkey news", Alex Turner will be releasing the 6 Track Submarine EP on March 15th new songs from the film of the same name directed by Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd). The Ep will be released via CD, Digital and 103 LP.

Arctic Monkeys will kick off a tour at the 9:30 Club in DC on May 17th and return to Central Park Summerstage (aka Rumsey Playfield) on May 24th. Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday or Saturday. Completely out of the blue comes this, a new cut from Arctic Monkeys. So little information has been given about the track that it is currently unclear as to whether it will appear on their forthcoming fourth album. NME says this:   'Footage in the video hints that the track was produced at Hollywood's Sunset Sound Studios by longtime producer James Ford. The band recorded their new album in the Los Angeles district, and although it currently has no confirmed release date, the four-piece recently scheduled a series of festival dates and two hometown gigs in Sheffield this June.' New Arctic Monkeys Video/Song - “Brick by Brick” The Arctic Monkeys returned this morning — somewhat out of the blue as we were waiting to hear Alex Turner’s new solo material — with the first taste off their forthcoming LP, which was recorded with the help of producer/Simian Mobile Disco/Last Shadow Puppets member James Ford. In typically understated fashion, Brick By Brick, the first glimpse into the Arctic Monkeys -shaped void of the past eighteen months or so seeped out surreptitiously onto t'interweb a moment or two ago. Whilst the track itself is far from an instant classic, it sees the Sheffield troupe rooting themselves forever more firmly in the past, swirling psychedelic guitars and copious distortion powering the track that sounds beefier than a burger comprised of diced Josh Homme at points, whilst getting away with Austin Powers-esque pastiche at others. Welcome back, Alex Turner et al.

After only yesterday getting word of Alex Turner's solo effort for the film, Submarine, today we get word that Arctic Monkeys are to play two big homecoming gigs in Sheffield this summer!
