2012 had it all, didn’t it? London 2012, the Diamond Jubilee, James fucking Bond returning in a blaze of balls-out guts and glory and some great music to boot (we’re ignoring Muse ’s Olympic song 'Survival' , don’t worry). Had it all though? Every classic British summer needs something, and 2012 was drastically missing it: that cornucopia of eccentricity and old-school values, Glastonbury. Where were Mssrs. Eavis squared, where was the Pyramid Stage, where was Worthy Farm? Healing, nursing its wounds. In preparation for a [...]
So we now know who is to play the apex of the Pyramid Stage across the three nights; who is to enrapture the newfangled dance hamlet, Silver Hayes; and who is to promenade The Park (inevitably eye-popping special guests aside, for which my money's on Atoms for Peace ) during this year's edition of The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts . Though the best element of this year's line up thus far? No, it's not the fact that The Rolling Stones are to start us up come the Saturday night as so many so optimistically [...]

This weeks artist is someone I've stumbled upon recently via a few of her older tracks. However, today Kate Nash has released her third studio album entitled Girl Talk , and no it's nothing like Girl Talk , not even close. While the first few songs of her's that I had her were more light hearted, Nash's newest release has a bit of a punk rock sound with fast paced percussion and a bunch of hard, yet awesome bass lines. At the same time she manages to mix in a few calmer, acoustic based tracks to get a good [...]

A week after it's release the Arctic Monkeys' debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not , was featured at number 5 on NME's list of greatest British album's ever. A few week's earlier the band's frontman, Alex Turner, was turning 20. How is this even possible? Amazingly, homemade CDs and a kick-ass live show that earned the group many sold-out shows. You probably wouldn't be surprised to find out the Yorkshire quartet was listening to mostly hip-hop before they dove into the world of rock 'n' roll. Each lyric is fired [...]
A little over a month ago, MTIB started working on a 'Best Ever' list called Project 220. Why is it called Project 220 ? Using a 30,000 song sample, we determined the proportion of songs that each letter of the alphabet is... Man, I'm not entirely sure how to explain it. Basically, each letter is allotted a number of spots on our list based on our sample. 4.5% of that sample had the letter 'A' as the first item in the song title, subsequently 'A' was allotted 9 spots on our list. Get it? No? Oh well. [...]

A new bit for MTIB, we're bringing you songs of new and old that seem to be ticklin' our fancy on that day. We'll try and hit you with a couple of these a week but don't hold us to that. We have other important things going on in our lives too like practicing head stands and hula-hoop world records to b reak. Leave us a comment on what you think and if this is something we should keep pumpin' out. This current installment is about as random as it gets but it doesn't have to make sense, just go [...]

If you're popping to Wilderness Festival this Saturday, I very much urge you to take in Mahalia's set. Having seen her myself in a small London venue a few months back, I was mesmerised by the beautiful sound that this young girl produces. Her stripped back cover of the Arctic Monkey's Mardy Bum is a charming piece of music. She has strokes of Adele to her tunes but there is definitely a flair for Folk within her music. Indeed, she played Communion's Bushstock Festival this May. It's a very much a family affair with Mahalia's band with her [...]
What to expect at Outside Lands, according to comedians David Cross, Chris Hardwick, and musician Lars Ulrich of Metallica.

Last night's Opening Ceremony proved many things, but perhaps more emphatically than anything, it showed that we know our way around a melody. Bowie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Blur, Winehouse, and...er, Fuck Buttons. First and last time we'll hear Fuck Buttons at an Opening Ceremony? Most probably. While Macca led the crowd through a sing-song of 'Hey Jude' the real thrill of the live performances was watching Arctic Monkeys tear through their breakthrough track 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' infront of a billion people. [...]
Arctic Monkeys opened the London Olympics. The motherloving Olympics! That my favorite band in the world got the opportunity to do this is absolutely amazing to me. I don't know if I'm more surprised because I like them, or because they are still in their prime and not on the tail end like other bands asked to do prestigious things such as this. Hands down one of the coolest things musically in my life and I wasn't even there. I watched it on a shitty stream and am now having to wait [...]
Im pretty psyched about the 2012 Summer Olympics in London this summer. Today was the opening ceremony featuring performances by popular English artists Arctic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club and Beatles legend Paul McCartney. A nice nod to England's reputation for a fresh music scene. The ceremonies will give these bands worldwide exposure, especially newcomers Two Door Cinema Club. Check [...]
With their catchy vocals and nostalgic vibe, The Smiling Lies could be the love child of the Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.
Metal fans are the nicest fans in the world. With a dedicated fan base that loses their shit when someone on stage even utters the name Eddie Trunk, it was almost as if the crowd at the inaugural Orion Music + More Festival were looking forward to an East coast metal festival to blow Mayhem and Warped out of the water. Different generations of fans littered the audience, from the parents who brought their kids to the show to the teens who made a quick stop at Hot Topic to pick up their first Metallica shirt before the [...]
This weekend, Orion Music + More touches down in Atlantic City, NJ for two full days of metal, rock 'n' roll, and indie rock. It's an eclectic lineup headed by Metallica, Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, and The Gaslight Anthem, with support from Fucked Up, Cage the Elephant, Best Coast, Gary Clark, Jr., Titus Andronicus, The Jim Breuer Heavy Metal Comedy Tour, etc. Did we say it's an eclectic lineup already? Oh, right. In anticipation of the festivities, our own Sami Jarroush (of Rock It Out! Blog ) and Michael Zonenashvili put together a playlist [...]

So, sit tight, take a listen to these ten tracks, and keep the anticipation going for tomorrow's big day. -Adam Kivel Senior Editor A.Dd+ - “When Paris Smokes” [...]
