13 1/2 points. That's the official line that the Las Vegas oddsmakers are saying that the Patriots will beat the Broncos with an over/under 50. In other words, odds makers are claiming that it's going to be a high scoring contest with the Patriots handing it to the Broncos. It would be a bad idea to put a small wager if you can on the Broncos to win outright. The odds are heavily not in their favor and that's where they like their chances. Their walls are against the wall and after last week's OT winner [...]
Coeur de Pirate ’s Blonde is a lot of things. It’s soft, exotic strings accompanied by passionate lyrics. It’s knee bopping beats and Montrealer Beatrice Martin’s greatest exploit. There are obvious hints of influence from Martin’s side project with Bedouin Soundclash frontman Jay Malinowski, Armistice . The quirky marichi band infusions on certain songs are tasteful, and fold into the piano, strings, and percussions gracefully, and doesn’t alienate the seductive piano and guitar of songs like Place de la République and Petite Mort . The rolling drum and bass isn’t [...]
MUTEMATH - The Loft - Poughkeepsie, NY - 9.17.11 Writer: Vincent Treglia ( Photo: Dana Cama - http://www.flickr.com/photos/d anathegreat/ ) Being such a well established band, MUTEMATH had no business playing a venue as small as The Loft two nights ago in Pougkeepsie, NY. Have you seen their live DVD from “The Armistice Tour” back in 2009? But with new guitarist Todd Gummerman stepping up to bat for [...]
There are thousands of popular artists out there today making new singles all the time. With the increase of bedroom producers though, the ability to simply download a whole studio that you can use right on your lap has made original songs more scarce. Now it seems that your finding tens of thousands of remixes by artists with more and more ludicrous names, leaving you wondering “Transexual Viking Sword Bro- what???.” This weekly segment will bring you the popular remixes and the never heard of “Transexual Viking Sword Brothers” remixes of a (common) artist’s singles. From all these bedroom producers [...]

Tweet The first track on Patrick Wolf ’s new album is the best. That’s both a good and a bad thing. Bad, because nothing else matches the bubblegum highs of "The City", also the leadoff. Good, because the ebullience of that opener carries the listener through the next ten tracks of "Lupercalia" with a smile and wink. Infectious is an overused word in describing pop music, but here the description fits – very few songs fill you with such gladness that you want to hug [...]
Few albums today hold enough valued content to keep the attention of today's listener, let alone an entire album of intelligent and enjoyable music. Coupled with his almost regal voice, Patrick Wolf's Lupercalia is 40 minutes of electronic music mish-mashed right up to horns and strings. Plus, he name checks Dylan Thomas. For geeks like me, that's pretty awesome. It's hard to know where to start with this album - every song has merit. By far my favourite is Bermondsey Street, a joyful track in every sense of the word. It's like he mathematically worked out the [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music Dare to Care Records Bedouin Soundclash 's Jay Malinowski and Béatrice Martin enlisted the Bronx (otherwise known as Mariachi El Bronx ) to give their Armistice project a unique mariachi fusion feel. So perhaps it's unsurprising then that the Toronto/Montreal duo have been showered with reviews that highlight the "un-Canadian" vibe to their music. "I've had that problem my entire life," Malinowski [...]
Right now, I'm getting destroyed. I have orientation for my new job on top of finals week (which is already ruining my life), and with our impending doom coming Saturday, I feel like I have so much left to do with my life with so little time to do it in (hope for the best, prepare for the worst). I mean, seriously, I have had such a rough week, and to have it be my last just seems a bit sad. Well, this here is the soundtrack to my studying, What Have We Become by Armistice [...]
Coeur de Pirate isn't really an unknown Canadian artist by any means. But There's random things you might not have known about this French beauty. For example, when she was 17 (not legal), she was a nude model on alternative porn site GodsGirls. Naughty! However, the girl has the ability to sing the sweetest songs, even if the non-French speakers may not understand them. Her 2008 self-titled album was nominated for Francophone Album of the Year at the 2009 Junos. In 2009, the song off the album called Comme Des Enfants received a CBC radio [...]
It's hard to keep in mind that not all dancefloor drops have to be hard-hitting, blood-surging gutbusters; sometimes it feels good to dance to a comparably tame yet equally as mastered groove. Remix Artist Collective, RAC for short, provides just those kind of tunes. When you've got a team that's collectively worked for Ra Ra Riot, Penguin Prison, and Death Cab for Cutie, it's easy to assume that what they can produce will be certified gold; and you'd assume correctly. The trio's latest drop, VOL 2 , is a masterpiece compilation that includes remixes of some of the biggest [...]
SOUND: indie house/french house/pop. BEST PLAYED: would go down a treat really really really really really late at night. This one is a bit of a wind down treat. by teepoo Since my site was down this week and last week's chart was missing, this is a combination of 2 weeks. Enjoy! Keep hyping up your favourite single song posts, so that they can make the chart and somebody else can fall in love with it too
When reading the name of the today's post you probably would not have immediately noticed, but there is new music from Beatrice Martin (aka Coeur de Pirate )!!. Armistice is the collaboration between Beatrice Martin and Bedouin Soundclash frontman, Jay Malinowski. With music and lyrics written, the pair headed to Los Angeles late last summer to record the album at Big Game Lodge with El Bronx. Martin and Malinowski first worked together artistically when Beatrice lent her voice to the track, “Brutal Hearts” on Bedouin Soundclash’s fall release, Light The Horizon. The song was proclaimed a highlight [...]
by teepoo Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been busier than I thought I would be with Canadian Music Week. Lots of reviews and pictures of shows and conferences will go up soon! a hot choon I've been waiting for disguised as just another phoenix remix finally slipped into my hands. I first heard the RAC remix when they came to play live. I'll never forget the lofty feelings of weightlessness that briefly overtook the place. drinks didn't seem to spill , hairy moustache'd d-bags didn't seem to creep , and strangers felt like family . that's big praise for just another phoenix remix . or maybe not? phoenix - armistice (RAC remix) many a time, we build [...]
It’s going to be a good week. Want to know why? RAC (Remix Artists Collective), who as far as I’m concerned are some of the top—if not the top—remixers in the game, have released their second compilation of remixes, Volume 2, completely for free. Are there any of you out there who have yet to experience the golden touch of the Remix Artist Collective? I hope not. Their dogma is simple, and
