I would say it’s damn near impossible to match the poppy and agressive/raw side of the grunge spectrum in one track, but somehow Brighton/Bournemouth/Exeter band Birdskulls have managed this feat. Their new track “Mispresume” is an infectious little gem, full of angsty vocals, and energy-fueled instrumentation, that makes for an all together fantastic listen. Pre-order the cassette tape of the track, for which you also receive a knitted hat.

London’s Flamingods new single “Quesso” has a distinct tribal sound that just pulsates with all that natural energy that young men need to get out. Bringing in a slight pysch influence, the band seem to take where the other Tropical-inspired bands left off, by fully realizing the joyous nature of their sound and never once shying away from it. It's almost 18 months since I first stumbled upon and wrote about Stonehaven noise-monsters Dolfinz. Since the days of those early rough recordings, the two-piece have been fairly busy - touring the UK and Europe with Slowcoaches; releasing a 7" with Tuff Wax; featuring on a Song, By Toad 12" split along with the likes of PAWS and Sex Hands; getting played on Radio 1 and 6Music. Big Wave return to us with another vintage-pop cut entitled “Dying on the Vine”. The song is chock full of crunchy guitar lines, that roll through the most delectable of melodies. There is simply an undying energy that flows throughout, that is purely contagious. This might be the most “rock” we have heard from these guys, but their expertise in making pop gems are not lost in the mix. In the clip, the band members act out scenes over layers of clips, with the result often being hilarious. I particularly enjoy the use of NERF guns. [...]
