Denison Witmer released a new song, titled Brooklyn With Your Highest Wall , off his latest album, The Ones Who Wait . The album, according to Witmer, is about "patience and reverence" and came about after several significant events happened in his life with the death of this father, getting married, and becoming a father. It is scheduled for release on March 6th through Asthmatic Kitty . You can download and stream the song below.

Asthmatic Kitty just posted up this stunning, slow-building new hymn from Julianna Barwick . " Never Change " is as beautiful and calming and cathartic as anything on The Magic Place - one of the best records of last year - and hopefully hints at what's to come from Barwick in 2012: mp3: Julianna Barwick :: Never Change

The music is great, but it's really Fol Chen 's lyrics that got my attention "Baby you're so good, but you're boring me with your slow kiss" lol. Click here for your Free Download Read Fol Chen's Tweets

My occassional fliratatons with new age music, if you could even call it such, brought me through musicians who today aren't quite known for that genre even if lasting streams of those influences clearly remain in their subsequent work. And I never quite enjoyed it. Sarah McLachlan's debut album Touch (1988) surely looked the part with the ornately (and of course slightly eerily) decorated sepia toned cover art. I found myself liking her subsequent albums more, probably owing to their stronger rock and pop leanings, and soon gave away my copy of the album to a friend who [...]

20jazzfunkgreats has been delving into the early history of computer graphics and animation – the way in which digits give life to moving images that eventually, touched by the finger of genius, are imbued with an illusion of intelligence and soul, arguably artifice for now (although who knows what those cowboys and astronauts get up to at night when no-one is looking, or in the imaginations of those within which they migrate with every projection?). Our synaesthetic tendencies require a discussion of some basic graphics techniques in the context of sound (Signal processing theory 101, we know, but [...]

Tweet " Hold Back " by The Revival Hou r may be the best mix of modern electronic with classic Soul I've ever heard. The Revival Hour are the new project from the amazing DH Stith and JM Lapham ( The Earlies / The Late Chord ) which draws out the ideal trademarks of both artists while still pushing them in a creative direction neither has ventured to attempt before now. [...]
It's going to be a while before we get the chance to hear Shannon Stephens ' new album -- we're expecting it sometime next summer -- but for now we will savor "Cold November", a new, perfectly seasonal, perfectly lovely offering from the Seattle singer/songwriter featuring instrumentalist DM Stith. You may want to know that Stephens hangs out with an impressive pedigree of performers -- Sufjan Stevens (with whom she used to play), Rosie Thomas, Denison Witmers, etc. -- and that her upcoming 2012 album follows up 2009's The Breadwinner , an album we [...]

My Brightest Diamond returns to show the Indie world how a song should be written. Every sound is expertly placed and lyric wonderfully delivered. Shara Worden knows exactly when to sound strong and when to sound fragile. Take notice NPR, THIS is what you describe as 'lush'. This is Shara Worden's third LP as My Brightest Diamond. It's a presentation of high camp, and a restrained boldness of vision that is far removed from the mainstream. There are a couple of areas that might turn people off. Firstly that it toys with pastiche. There's a potpourri of Edwardian popular music, Piaf, carny and show-tunes in here. But it remains unique enough to convince. Secondly, you could find Worden's voice too cold, too mannered, too aware of its own power and beauty to draw you in with vulnerability. In fact, Worden's voice may be the least [...]
Helado Negro - Regresa (by Asthmatic Kitty ) "The son of Ecuadorean immigrants, Roberto Carlos Lange was born in South Florida in 1980. Over the last few years Lange has collaborated with prominent visual and sound artist David Ellis to compose a new series of kinetic sound sculptures. These include typewriters that self-type the lyrics to Grand Master Flash's "The Message" (in rhythm to the song, none-the-less), musical owls drawn out of liquor bottles, owl costumes made out of straws, flying musical birds, motion paintings, and trashcans (full of trash) [...]

Diplo & Lunice layer some thick " deep sea beats " on this glowing atmospheric re-work of Julianna Barwick 's " Vow ." Taken from Matrimony Remixes , out now on Asthmatic Kitty : _________ previously : mp3: Julianna Barwick :: The Magic Place Radiohead :: Reckoner (Julianna Barwick remix)
On her Asthmatic Kitty debut, The Magic Place , Julianna Barwick took church choir music to a new level. Her enchantingly angelic voice — looped, layered and quivering in reverb — soared throughout the record like beautiful poetry. Barwick's latest EP (via Asthmatic Kitty), The Matrimony Remixes , features tracks "Vow" and "Prizewinning" from The Magical Place , and new versions that have undergone some major tinkering in the hands of folks like Diplo, Prince Rama and [...]

Shara Worden is one of the great indie multi-instrumentalist in recent memory: a less uneven complement to the frantic Amanda Palmer who also takes to sound layering moreso than Regina Spektor while being less experimental than Björk. She brings more fluttery yet sweeter chamber-esque harmonies in tow for her third studio album, All Things Will Unwind . Certainly another gem in her crown, the album does disappoint slightly in its repeated indulgence in cheerful whimsy. The first track, "We Added It Up", makes a great strolling tune with its simple classic guitar and aviary [...]
![[Listen/Download] – Jookabox – "Drops"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3711576_lg.jpg)
Tweet Jookabox ,the infectious band out of Indianapolis, have a sound that to describe would come out somewhere along the lines of quazi-electronica meets a garage hip-hop fusion of awesomeness. All I really know is it takes less time to get someone to listen and be impressed than it does to explain why they will be. Jookabox are one of the more unique sounding bands out and they deliver live what they produce on vinyl, something not to be taken for granted. [...]
Every week, we'll take a look at some new releases (not all of them, unfortunately!) and talk a little about them and give you a chance to listen. God bless Tuesdays! Regina — Soita Mulle While people in the U.S. are busy sleeping, Regina are busy making beautiful indie pop in Helsinki. Unless they record at night. That's possible. Check out "Unessa" and "Haluan Sinut" from Soita Mulle, due out September 20 on Friendly Fire. They'll be releasing the album in Finland tomorrow. [...]

>> '80s-styled hooks and boundless whimsicality makes Roberts & Lord 's forthcoming sugary longplayer Eponymous curiously arresting. The MySpace-spawned (really) duo of Californian Rafter Roberts and Londoner Simon Lord operates within a shifting grid of styles as varied as the bastardized Go Team! -goes-dancehall stomper "Windmill" or the exceptionally odd head-bobber "Mosquito." The gritty backing tracks were recorded to a four-track machine by Mr. Roberts in San Diego, and then sent through Intertubes to Mr. Lord, who added vocals and arranged things. While formally mediated by this swappy-swappy, the resulting music has [...]

They may sound like an evangelical detective duo, but Roberts and Lord are in fact purveyors of rather lovely alternative pop songs. Their album, 'Eponymous', is out through Asthmatic Kitty on October 3, and you can listen to their new single, 'Oblique', below.
