We went in-depth with reasons as to why 20112s American Nightmare reunion was an excellent occurrence but there's been a spate of reunions in the punk & hardcore scene. Whether it's about the money or the acknowledgment of a great band, some have gone down wonderfully. Others... less so. This weekend in Downtown LA there's another festival going in. It's called Fyf Fest and it features a number of these reunited bands. 1) Quicksand - June 2012 [...]
At The Drive-In - “Quarantined (live at Red 7 in Austin, TX on April 9, 2012)” Welcome back, you guys. We’ve all missed you so much the last 12 years.

At The Drive-In performed together for the first time in 11 years at Austin's Red 7 on Monday night. Serving as the first of three intimate shows scheduled in their home state prior to Coachella , the band performed a 15-song career-spanning set, and you can watch footage of "Quarantined", "Enfilade", and "One Armed Scissor" below. "Quarantined": "Enfilade": " One Armed Scissor": You can [...]

Reunited hardcore band At-The Drive In has no plans for a new studio album, according to guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López. When recently asked about the possibility by Kerrang! Magazine (via NME ), Rodríguez-López said, "Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it's songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we're doing a couple of shows." Speaking of shows, At The Drive-In recently confirmed its third 2012 performance, and its first-ever one in Europe. On July 12th, they'll perform at the Benicàssim festival in [...]

I discovered At the Drive-In by accident. Jim Ward , one of ATDI's founding members, was opening for Rhett Miller a few years ago at the Black Cat (you can see the shots from it here ). It was one of those "get there early/fall in love with the opener you know nothing about" instances that I love. Ward played with this incredible combination of delicacy and metric ton of power that I was dumbfounded. I can count on one hand the number of musicians playing acoustic guitar and singing that have held [...]

We had some Mars Volta news this morning, now we have rumblings that At the Drive-In is BACK! From the ATDI Twitter account: @AtTheDriveIn_ At The Drive-In ¡ ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL 2 hours ago via web Favorite Retweet [...]
Strictly speaking, At The Drive-In aren't reuniting, they've just officially been on hiatus for eleven years. But whatever you call it, they're back together : . ”ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL.” To be honest, I don't think I'd ever noticed that they'd stopped working. It's a bit like when one of those people you didn't realise had still been alive until their obituary appears. -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain [...]
Because, y'know, everyone's got bills to pay. In a brief "statement" over on their official website , the much-lauded, oft-overrated-by-people-who-ne ver-actually-saw-them-play-liv e band said the following: "Attention! To whom it may concern: At The Drive-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence. This station is...now...operational." That's it. Nothing more yet. Carry on as you were. We're sure we'll have a great old time reliving how disappointing it was to be 17 again when At The Drive-in inevitably headline the second stage at this year's Reading & Leeds Festivals, but for now, we can't [...]

Post-hardcore innovators At the Drive-In are set to reunite after 11 years, according to the band's official Twitter account . "ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL," the tweet reads. Comprised of Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Jim Ward, Omar Rodríguez-López, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar, the band released three albums during their nine year existence between 1993 and 2001. They played their latest show on February 21st, 2001 and announced a permanent hiatus soon thereafter. In the years that followed, Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez formed The Mars Volta, while Jim Ward, Paul [...]
Back after 11 year hiatus.

So, if we were to retrace the steps backwards, does this mean an At the Drive-In reunion is on the horizon? Not sure if this is a "one-off" date, but Jim Ward (Sparta/Sleepercar vocalist) is opening up a bar/concert venue, Bowie Feathers and Tricky Falls respectively in the downtown part of El Paso. Sparta will be performing November 17 to ring in the new venue and subsequently, begin work on a new Sparta album with a summer 2012 release. Thanks for the heads up What's Up . If you haven't had a chance to [...]

Back in 2004, the formidable trio of Conor Oberst, Jim James and M. Ward teamed up for a tour they dubbed Monsters Of Folk . Each artist delivered a solo set, where they often interpreted each others material, that often culminated with all three on stage at the end for some spirited covers and a mixed bag of the artists' tunes. Earlier this year news surfaced that trio had plans to collaborate and record an album together. Well, the band's debut effort now has a release date and will hit store shelves on September 22. [...]
