The indie comet that is the Cannanes once again crosses our orbit with a new EP, Small Batch.

Next week marks the official release of the video for Australia's band The Preatures track, "Is This How You Feel". The track was released last week, to an amazing reception and it's the first track of their upcoming untitled EP that will be released later this year. The Preatures - Is This How You Feel [...]

I have not felt this strongly about a song in a while. Jagwar Ma are a poor man's Tame Impala. Which is a lot like calling Kobe Jordan a poor man's Michael Jordan or Ronaldo a poor man's Messi. They're just really, really nice. Translation: they'reYes, the Syndey-based trio of Jono Ma (a sneaky sneaky great remixer), Gabriel Winterfield, Jack Freeman are no strangers to the Australian music scene, but there about to burst onto the worldwide scene. Their debut album, "Howlin" is available for pre-order and if this Balearic [...]

Australia's Gold Fields have been on my radar since about March of 2012. It's hard to field all of the promotional blasts that I get about new artists and albums, but something about Gold Fields' mesh of dance rhythms with familiar, but subtle, "emo-pop" cut through the noise, and set me up for a perfect sunny Summer album. Something about the juxtaposition of Gold Fields and the title of the album, "Black Sun", struck me as very clever; burning a beautiful image of the scene into my mind. I wanted to know Gold Fields story, but [...]

Black Lips meets Tame Impala?

This Last Year by Palms Palms are a band hailing from Sydney, Australia. There are many bands called Palms, but let this band be the one you listen to next. Known for their grungy song Love, dubbed as a song to get freaky to, and The Summer is Done with Us, a more summery (well, obviously) number, this band's recordings will sound much like you've tossed a cassette into your 90s beatbox. This Last Year bears the simple scrapbook-like style artwork that matches the art for their other singles, and we know they'll come out [...]

"Influenced by the Germans, the Italians, pale British button pushers, glamorous alien pop futurists, Mid-Western sweat, NYC disco dreamers, undercover kings and queens escaping a dull grey world with rhythm and noise..." Get pulled in by the inescapably hypnotic groove of " Falling ," the sinuous new track from Australian super-group of sorts Lace Curtain (not to be confused with Coomers' Lace Curtains , also rad). As great as this sounds right now on Wednesday morning on a blog, we imagine it becomes nearly transcendent on a foggy/preferably seedy [...]

It's amazing to think that Ben Lee's first record Grandpaw Would was released the year I was born, in 1995. This music legend has been in our lives for a very long time and we have really come to treasure every release Ben's had. This year, he released Ayahuasca: Welcome to the Work ; a fantastic album which allowed us to carry our ever-lasting admiration for this artist. So, we were very honoured when given the opportunity of interviewing Ben! Have a read where AMBY talks to Ben Lee about "everything. everyone.", the state of modern music, [...]

Ghosts of Venice treat us to some hearty, upbeat disco with a special guest on vocals. And like I love to point out with every song I post of his, Josh Jakq reminds me too much of Justin Timberlake. However, the tables have turned this time around when I heard a song playing it instantly reminded me of Josh Jakq's voice and it turned out to be none other than JT's. But besides my not-so brilliant insight that's probably been pointed out to him too much already, it's nice to hear Jakq change up his work from [...]

Melbourne based, 23 year old Oscar Key Sung singer / songwriter / producer has just released two new tracks that are available to stream and download. His sounds are both mesmerizing and dreamy. He captures that future r'n'b sound perfectly, but also spinning something of his own sound. Oscar has been very busy since becoming part of Two Bright Lakes as one half of Oscar + Martin in 2010. In early 2013 Oscar's beat was picked by MELOGHOST (Ghostpoet x MeLo-X) "WecanWorkitout" and his vocals featured on Andras Fox new LP [...]

Every now and then someone will send me a song to review that they claim has “potential” but it rarely ever does. Personally I usually try and avoid the word “ potential ” as it almost always comes across patronising and in an environment where we are currently saturated with ‘new’ music it’s often difficult separating the consistently good from the otherwise average. Which is why I surprised myself when the only words I could conjure up to describe emerging Australian duo Machines for Dreams all revolved around the notion of potential. There is actually little [...]
FBi is a Sydney-based community radio station which prides itself on supporting Australian music (and does an incredible job in my opinion). Indie Shuffle's affiliation with FBi in Australia extends to our Indie Shuffle Presents gigs being put on at FBi Social, the radio station's brilliant live venue. Recently, one of the station's longest running programs, The Bridge, put out a compilation of local electronic music entitled Maker , a lot of which is perfect for this week's Sunday Night Chill. Designed to give the public an introduction to a few of Australia's burgeoning electo-music community, [...]
