It has been a couple months since we've published any music by Machinedrum . The song above definitely called for it though. Historically, electronic music that has received any kind of mainstream attention has been laughably cheesy, with the occasional decent song getting high-volume exposure. Lately music by producers that were pretty much off the pop radar for years is getting picked-up by well-known and respected rappers. Commercial hip hop has needed instrumentals with respectable electronic production techniques and influence for years now. Glad to see that day has finally arrived.

On Friday, Banks and frequent collaborator Machinedrum dropped "No Problems," a response track to Haze's "On The Edge." And the full-blown Twitter war between Angel Haze and Azealia Banks continues into a second day. Yesterday, Angel struck first with her diss track "On the Edge" , and now Azealia punches back with "No Problems", produced by Machinedrum . Azealia introduced the track by tweeting , "Lol I def used that energy to write a fly new jam tho. It's not even really a diss anymore! Haha !!!" But Azealia took a shot at Angel with her next Tweet , "Just straight fly uptown NYC shit!!!", a reference back [...]
Well that didn't take long. Following their "Twitter beef" and Angel Haze putting out a diss track aimed at Azealia Banks, the NY rapper has replied in the only way that she knows how to; through music. Produced by Machinedrum, it's quite possibly the best track she's done since 212, so ya know, keep the beef coming, eh? Of course, the fact that she's managed to get Machinedrum in to produce a track of such quality in a mere matter of hours doesn't point to a PR stunt at all....

Did anybody else suffer from a mild panic attack after reading the headline of Azealia Banks wanting out of the rap game, misunderstanding the message that one of the past year's brightest newcomers was retiring from the music thing entirely? Azealia Banks , who just released her 1991 EP, is already back gracing us with new smashes. “Aquababe” finds Banks back on her Speedy Gonzalez flow over an array of glitches and beeps that come from every corner. Most closely related to her recent adventure, “Jumangi”, Machinedrum once again lays down some ridiculous gold for Azealia to feed off of. While “Aquababe” is a nice little title and all, I wish this remained the originally titled, “Regis Chilbin”. Too awesome.
