"In their eyes I would be strange and ragged and like the prophet who has walked across the land to bring the dark word the only word I had was 'wow'." - Kerouac The greatest spectacle in music (I've heard they have movies too) has just wrapped up and for all it's brilliance and mind [...]
The War On Drugs stopped by Jimmy Fallon last night and performed 'Baby Missiles' from their latest Slave Ambient release. Questlove from The Roots was hitting up the drums in the background as well. The War On Drugs will be performing live with Sharon Van Etten at The State Room here in SLC, UT on March 27th, a live night of music that shouldn't be missed.

Check out The War on Drugs killing it last night as they perform "Baby Missiles" for their late night television debut on Jimmy Fallon. They were also joined by another Philly native ?uestlove on a second set of skins. (Special thanks to The Audio Perv .) Enjoy!
Here is the standup track/video 'Baby Missiles' from The War On Drugs. Pretty incredible song here and their 2011 Secretly Canadian release of 'Slave Ambient' is a must listen as it has fallen under the radar. These guys are on a full tour now and come to The State Room in SLC, UT with Sharon Van Etten on March 27th which will be one of the live highlights of 2012.
If you haven't been downright impressed with the overflow of incredible genre crossing music this year you are either a huge Nickleback fan or you are Amish, there's no other logical excuse to complain about the status of music. Last year when I put the "Best Albums" list together it was one of the first [...]

Baby Missiles is the standout song for me on American indie rock band The War On Drugs’ recently released Slave Ambient album. It has a certain ‘ Walk of Life ’ vibe to it that I totally dig. Check out the songs’ video below and let me know what you think of it.

The War On Drugs, with Caveman and Jeremy Sessa / Club Cafe / Thursday 09.01.2011 / 8:00 / $8 Words by Brendan I'm not sure what you might expect from a band with the name The War On Drugs , but I guarantee they're better than anything you have in mind. The usual "spot the influence" game yields classic rock names like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen (for upbeat, radio-ready, guitar-driven rock melodies) and Neil Young (for dusty, folk- and country-tinged [...]

First hearing tracks from Slave Ambient , the new album from Philadelphia's The War On Drugs, was as equally breathtaking as it was frustrating. Breathtaking, because my God does this band know how to take just enough Springsteen, combine it with welcoming feedback and filled out instrumentation, and end up with an epic rock song. And frustrating because, well- why the hell am I just now giving these guys a serious listen! Former band of Kurt Vile, the two share clear similarities with an over-riding sense of blue collar honesty and simplicity. But while Kurt tends to bring things [...]
Making a music video to accompany a song as ecstatic and life-affirming as this is a fairly tricky task. But above you’ll be see the technicolour 64xspeed acid trip ‘ Baby Missiles’ is worthy of. [ JM ] The War On Drugs return on August 16 with Slave Ambient , out on Secretly Canadian. The War On Drugs - Baby Missiles by The Line Of Best Fit
A couple of years ago, I attended the Austin City Limits music festival in Texas. The group I went with decided to drive the entire way down from Columbus, Ohio. On the way down, the three of us stopped in Memphis, Tennessee and stayed the night at a Super 8 Motel before venturing the rest [...]

This new video for the War On Drugs' latest single "Baby Missiles" was released yesterday, tying together the band's latent passion for American nostalgia with some psychedelic-inspired visuals and a bevvy of 8 MM footage. "Baby Missiles" is the first single from the band's upcoming second LP Slave Ambient, which is due out August 16th on Secretly Canadian, the Bloomington-based label home to such other acts as Yeasayer and Here We Go Magic. Slave Ambient, one of my most anticipated albums of the year, appears to be capitalizing on the band's recent creative stride in the studio, hopefully pushing them [...]
