Just when I started to become concerned about the whereabouts of Starkey Love , this unexpected gem pops up on the internet on Friday. The guy did put out three albums within in two years, so I guess I'm starting to get greedy with new Ghostface material. Just after I tracked down all those new Wilco songs yesterday, Wilco hit the Colbert Report for an interview and a special performance of another new song titled "Wilco the Song." Not unlike Mr. Adams' last couple albums, I'm not too pleased with this most recent effort Cardinology . However, there are four excellent jams right at the beginning of the album and "Fix It" is one of them. Cardinology is a pretty decent attempt at a classic rock inspired album, with a way less alt-country feel than you might typically expect, but it essentially falls off the radar after the hard-rocking "Magick". This is Justice's DJ Set from Electric Proms, recorded live on the BBC from Koko in London. This mix is a bit more eclectic compared to Justice's previous mixes, but a successful venture in to new territory nonetheless. Aside from their own tracks and Daft Punk's "Face to Face", it mostly consists of rare gems from the 70s and 80s, making for a great mix that I'll definitely be filing alongside my other favorite mixes from this year. One of my first posts over here on the new domain was GLC's "I Ain't Even On Yet" video, a track that was originally released on Kanye West's Can't Tell Me Nothing mixtape with Plain Pat from last year. You might remember me raving about Amazing Baby's demo a few weeks back, and my favorite song out of the four on the demo is easily "Head Dress", which Amazing Baby performed probably about a half a dozen times last week at CMJ. There are multiple reasons for liking Drop the Lime, the top three being that he has awesome 50s greaser hair, his music kinda makes you feel like you're in NY when dance music was first starting, and he just makes awesome bass-heavy dance jams that make you want to drink, dance and repeat.
