Today Lollapalooza announced their 2013 lineup, and it's a good one. Headliners are The Cure, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, The Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, The National, New Order, Queens Of The Stone Age, and (bleh) Mumford & Sons. Then you got Kendrick Lamar, Grizzly Bear, Band Of Horses, Major Lazer, Hot Chip, Local Natives, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles, Lana Del Rey, Beach House, Cat Power, Frightened Rabbit, Alt-J, Foals, Smith Westerns, The Vaccines, Father John Misty, DIIV, Heartless Bastards, Haim, Jessie Warem Wild Nothing, Wavves, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Icona Pop, Jake Bugg, [...]
Big Day Out is typically a festival I avoid like the plague. The crowds alone are enough to put a fella off catching the host of great bands they get to play, but this year they nailed the lineup so hardcore that I couldn't resist. The lineup boasted some of the biggest named indie acts of the last 10 years: Band of Horses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals, The Killers, Vampire Weekend were some of the huge names that graced Gold Coast Parklands on a steamy Sunday mid January. [...]

Tracey [...]
It's that time at last! Triple J Hottest 100 voting has opened. For those that don't let their musical intelligence be insulted by Triple J, this year promises to be another hard slog at getting those 10 tracks perfectly right, so that you can just tick them off as they come up one by one on the 26th January. Well... at least that's what it used to be like. It's been only 10 years ago now, that Queens of the Stone Age held the number 1 spot with their mental track "No One Knows", and only five years [...]

Not much needs to be said this week. This might be the height week of the year in terms of good music. Not only are Band of Horses out with their highly anticipated Mirage Rock album, but there's tons more to listen to. Let's briefly rattle off some names since there's simply way to much to cover. B en Folds Five ... what's not to like? Each album they come out with is pretty darn good; the equivalent of Matt Pond PA for me, really. Grizzly Bear 's highly anticipated album Shields is [...]

Stefano Giovannini It seems counter-intuitive to not look forward to hearing an artist's first album of new material in half a decade - the follow-up to arguably her best work, no less - but then things are rarely straightforward when you're talking about Cat Power . With all respect to those who'd bestow the honour on You Are Free or Moon Pix , but The Greatest was as good as its title as far as I was concerned. It may [...]

While I'd venture to guess that most of our readers are a bit too old for the whole Twilight phenomenon, there is a reason to get excited about the vampire-loving series as the soundtrack for franchise's third movie Eclipse, which hits theaters on June 30, will once again skew towards indie-rock fans. The album, which is scheduled to come out on June 8, will feature previously unreleased tracks from HT faves - Band Of Horses, Vampire Weekend, The Dead Weather, Fanfarlo, The Black Keys and Beck [...]
What? You still listen to THAT album? That record is so 2004 ! Well, that's okay, because we really like that one too, which is why we decided to come up with a list of our favorite albums of the last decade (2000-2009). Sure, these might not be YOUR favorite records, or the most critically acclaimed, but we sat down and really thought out every record from the past ten years that we keep coming back to in our collections. You're likely to disagree with some of these, and we won't tell you we're absolutely right we just [...]
