This perfectly disheveled Swedish four-piece have been carving out taut, just-out-of-bed indie-pop for the last few years, culminating in their addictive, sugar-pop debut EP. Since then we've had the standalone, synth-riddled single 'World On Fire', which moved the band on from jerky Strokes-lite indie and into large, widescreen soft-rock. And now comes something rather different. At times 'On Our Way' borders on 'hands in the air' Euro-pop. Actually, scrap that. All the way through this sounds exactly like 'hands in the air' Euro-pop. Don't be cynical. Enjoy the ride. Because this is ENORMOUS amounts of fun. [...]

The Cave Singers epitomize the current sounds coming out of the Pacific Northwest. With band members from such Seattle mainstays as Pretty Girls Make Graves and The Murder City Devils , the group has done everything in their power to slowly curb those band's more aggressive tendencies. Instead, they've grown into a solid unit capable of lovely tunes that would sound at home in the woods near Mt. Rainier and the trails along the Columbia River. The band's latest, Naomi , continues along that trajectory, [...]

Read the interview on For Folk's Sake Talvik, proving that Sweden is currently a gigantic alt-folk farm, plays gorgeously surreal, guitar-led dream-folk that simply must be heard. She’s a psyched-out, more inventive Marissa Nadler with the ethereal tones of Tasseomancy and Serafina Steer – an artist unafraid to experiment but who nevertheless retains a country soul. So writes UK's #1 folk/country and roots music blog " For [...]

Sound Remedy is an electronic producer from Los Angeles, California, who just started producing music 2 years ago. Sinc ehten, he's put together great remixes for Neil Young , Band of Horses , and Nirvana . A couple of days ago, Sound Remedy released a new track remixing Noosa , a rather unknown (but brilliant!) singer who sounds a bit like Lana Del Rey . Sound Remedy's production builds up to a [...]

There are some catchy pop-ish [...]

The second single from the fourth Band of Horses album, Mirage Rock , is out and it makes me feel warm. Like a baby emperor penguin nestled safely in crotchal region of my father. "Slow Cruel Hands of Time " continues to propel the band along the mountainous trail to greatness. I encourage you to place their sound in your ears and embark on your own path through this wonderful gift of human existence. Turn off your TV's, borrow someone's [...]

Back at the start of July Band Of Horses announced their new album Mirage Rock , revealing new song "Knock Knock" in the process, and today they've shared with us the song's video. The band go on a technology-of-old hunting expedition, or something like that, getting chased and catching snakerophones, as you do. Mirage Rock will be released on September 18th and below, via NPR , you can watch the video. Connect with Band Of Horses: [...]

When Band Of Horses dropped that teaser trailer for their new album a few weeks back it was assumed that the title of the album would "Dumpster World", but that's not the case as they've now announced that it's actually called Mirage Rock . Thank fuck for that, because "Dumpster World" is a shitty name for anything. Even a dumpster-themed amusement park. Instead the band have opted for Mirage Rock , that's the artwork above, that's the tracklist and new song and [...]
![[Listen] – New Song By Tyler Ramsey – “The Nightbird”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3745493_lg.jpg)
Tweet Band Of Horses guitarist Tyler Ramsey releases what could very well be his best song yet with "The Nightbird" . The Lyrics are haunting with the heaviness of life and coming to grips with those things that weigh us down coupled with the determination of releasing them. Sure as a metaphor anyone could listen to "The Nightbird" and place their own meanings, their own motivations, into the song and make it out about anything, that's the Achilles [...]

Band of Horses - The General Specific I don’t think there has ever been a more hairyface friendly time for music then right now (although, I’m sure cave drawings and history books would prove me wrong). The beard is the most respected of the facial hairdos right now. And with the beard so heavily on the rise in our popular culture, especially in music (note: I know there are bands that have beards and still suck, but at the moment, when I think of beards, I can only [...]

Ben Bridwell is quoted here, live on the air, as saying that BoH's recent tour opening up for Pearl Jam was the "best tour ever." That would have been really weird/hilarious if he had said it was the worst tour ever and that the dudes in Peej were dicks. But, Mr. Bridwell is always very polite just as he is leading the Horses through two new cuts in the The Current 's studios. NERD BONUS: much of Infinite Arms was written in the northern reaches of Minnesota, in a town named Virginia, not far from Bob Dylan's [...]
That song title might sound familiar to you and if you've been reading this site for the last couple of months or so then you've probably even seen it on here. That's because it's a cover of the always excellent L.A. band The Delta Mirror. I posted about The Shimmies back at the start of July and mentioned back then that they have a pretty good relationship with The Delta Mirror, two of the guys from the band guest-vocalarisering on The Delta Mirror's "He Was Worse Than The Needle He Gave You", and now they're covering [...]
It's pretty sweet when a band you really like starts recommending new music to you. That's what Craig from The Delta Mirror did with The Shimmies. Not only did he recommend them but he even sent me a couple of their songs too. The four-piece are from a land far far away in Dagobah System, California, their sound reminiscent of Grizzly Bear meets Conor Oberst meets a Jeff Buckley-fronted Band Of Horses. High-arching guitar build-ups, resonating vocals and drum skins hit like they're going out of fashion make their upcoming album "To All Beloved Enemies" sound like a [...]
![[Listen/Download] – Chief – “Night and Day”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2657253_lg.jpg)
Newly signed to Domino Records, Chief are a 4-piece from Santa Monica who play melodic, atmospheric guitar pop. The piano chords twinkling in the swirling, textured arrangements of their single “Night & Day” add an extra degree of magic to the song. The vocals are rich, layered and recall Band of Horses, as well as their 1960s forebears. “Night and Day” is now out as the first single from Chief’s forthcoming album “Modern Rituals”. The single’s B-side is a new version of their song “Your Direction” - watch the video below! Keep up to [...]

Yup, exactly as the title says. A lot of people are pretty disappointed in their latest album "Infinite Arms" and I can see why, but I'm still undecided. It's not bad, it's certainly not great, and it's nothing compared to either of its predecessors, but it's still a decent album. Anyway, have a listen to a couple of the songs from the album and watch them on Letterman last night. Buy "Infinite Arms" from Amazon - CD | Insound - LP (Vinyl) | CD [...]
