Much like Shakira earning some street cred by covering The xx , Cee-Lo Green's dip into indie rock also triumphs. The singing half of Gnarls Barkley recorded an inspired cover of the 2007 Band of Horses song "No One's Gonna Love You" for his upcoming solo album Cee-Lo Green Is the Lady Killer, and the track's cinematic video awaits you below. Cee-Lo - "No One's Gonna Love You" (Band of Horses cover) In the video, two lovers [...]
Cee-Lo Green , of Gnarls Barkley , has covered one of my favorite Band Of Horses ' songs, "No One's Gonna Love You", for his upcoming solo record, Lady Killer , due out this Fall. While the MP3 hasn't been made available, the music video just surfaced and it's romantic, cinematic, sad, and awesome. And NSFW. While the embed isn't working properly, watch the video here . [via NME . Thanks to MOKB for the find.] While You're Here: [...]
Gnarls Barkley lead singer Cee-Lo Green has covered Band Of Horses ' No One's Gonna Love You , so far, all we have is a video for the Paul Epworth-produced cover, but apparently Cee-Lo's cover will be available for download starting August 9th. In the mean time, he is offering a download of new track Georgia at Ceelogreen.co.uk now. Cee-Lo's forthcoming solo record,
Editor Phil caught American band Band of Horses 2 weeks ago in Oxford . If you haven't had a chance to see them live yet, check out this fragile, emotional performance of 'Infinite Arms' they did for Canadian telly recently. It's gorgeous. Directly below that, I've included a Black Cab Sessions performance of 'Ode to LRC' filmed on 10th June that shows Band of Horses is equally good in the cramped confines of a taxi. Some might say the latest album, Infinite Arms , from Band Of Horses is hit-or-miss. This likely comes from five different entities contributing to the songwriting duties. Still, I watched Ben Bridwell and company open for Pearl Jam earlier this Summer and it was one of the best live performances I've seen on a big stage this year. Ben and bandmate (and pretty great singer/songwriter in his own right) Tyler Ramsey jump in the Black Cab and create some beauty...

Broken Social Scene is about to play my dream show this weekend in Toronto. They'll be playing with Pavement **sigh** , Band of Horses, and Beach House at the Toronto Island Festival. Have one on me, guys! Seems as though that "Texico Bitches" is the song of choice that they're performing on the media outlets. You can watch them perform an amped up version on Fallon below, or listen to a more tame version over at CBC Radio 3 . Broken Social Scene-Texico Bitches (live on Fallon) [mp3]

Against my better judgement and as hard as I tried to resist, I have to admit that I am a Twilight fan. What drew me in to the books was the first movie, and one of the reasons I liked it so much was the fantastic soundtrack. The Twilight series always manages to get some amazing bands on their soundtracks, many of whom write original songs, and they integrate them seamlessly into the films. And while I can't speak for how well it will fit with the tone of the film (it isn't released in America until 30th June and [...]

Earlier this week Band Of Horses dropped by a Columbus, OH radio station to do promo for their brand new album Infinite Arms. As part of the acoustic performance they did a cover of The Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait". And as a fan of all things 'Mats/Westerberg I felt a duty to pass it along.
