Loving this new tune from LA band TV Girl off their self-released EP titled Lonely Women . “She Smokes In Bed” ( according to Connor at the always reliable IGIF ) "continues their hot streak of syrupy-sweet, ghetto-tech indie-pop jams laced with brilliantly sardonic lyrics". Oh so smooth! Glass Animals new single “Black Mambo” dabbles with eerie R&B and electro-pop textures, offering up an absolutely effortless vocal by Dave Bayley. This single will be featured on their upcoming double A-side which will be on ‘super-big-producer’ Paul Epworth’s new label called Wolf Tone and set for a June release. Oftentimes, the idea behind releasing a 7” is to give the listener a taste of what to expect from the forthcoming album. However, these two A-sides from moody indie duo Frank’s Daughter paint two very distinct pictures of the band’s gloomy, yet buoyant sound. This isn’t exactly their debut – earlier this year, Frank and Arthur dropped their first single, “Fall Fully Backwards”, on 6Music and Xfm, an atmospheric wonder with a pulsing, brooding bass line. (If you missed that, by the way, it IS available on Spotify.) While the morose nature underlying that track remains central to [...]

It was a nice intimate show that happened at Pressed on May 23rd. Playing at the show: • Claude Munson & The Storm Outside • Delta Will First set was Toronto's Delta Will. This was my first time seeing Charles Tilden's outer space alter ego music project. It was a mix of indie art pop electro-synth and space music. With people sitting, it [...]

People forget that it was Richard Manuel, that lost, beautiful soul, who created some of the Band's first original compositions - including this one, which serves as the debut track for Across the Great Divide. A song-by-song exploration of the Band's legacy, our new weekly feature actually begins before their celebrated 1968 debut Music from Big Pink, with Band-fronted tunes [...]

A fascinating magnetism is surrounding the band Still Parade at the moment. In a time so dependant on and obsessed with defining a creative-identity to ensure you’re the “red” in a sea of black and white - it’s refreshing that their music is the only thing we know about them. Following along the same grain, “Actors” allows you to momentary unplug and take a much-needed pause from your day, letting the soothing vocals and electro infused folk sounds speak loudly for them. It grabs your hand, pulls you in and makes you listen undistracted. The video [...]
![Boyhood & Each Other @ Pressed [May 22, 2013]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4966518_lg.jpg)
It was a rainy Wednesday but people still came out to this show at Pressed. Nashville's Fancytramp was suppose to play but couldn't get across the border. But I was very excited to see both bands to play. Playing at the show. • Boyhood • Each Other The show started off with Montreal's Each Other. I was very excited since it was their [...]

The Clash were easily the most commercially successful band to come out of the 19702s punk scene, with their potent brand of punk rock that mixed elements of ska, reggae, funk and rockabilly, all set to Joe Strummer's socio-political lyrics. On September 9, the iconic and influential punk act will release Sound System , a massive nine-disc box set that comes packaged in a vintage boom box designed by Clash bassist Paul Simonon. The set, which will feature remastered versions of the band's [...]

This was going to be a Track Of The Day (man, I love those) until I totally couldn't pick a 'track' so instead I take great pleasure in 'introducing' you to Burnt Palms . They're from California, and you can tell. Which is a good thing. The melodies are sunny and you can almost feel scorching sand bouncing off the bass drum...and again, that's a good thing, even if you hate sand (and I fucking do). Despite their tendency towards the down-tuned and dynamically simple, [...]
Sometimes it's difficult to write about a song when you don't know anything about the person(s) behind it. That is not the case here, however. Actors comes with very little information, but the music speaks completely for itself. The bio is deliberately cryptic, telling us that " Still Parade is not about a place or a person. It's an inner state of mind." Haha! What nonsense, eh! Well, no, actually. I wanted to laugh at it, but I just can't. It's fucking glorious. It makes my head spin, my eyebrows furrow and my chest pound. The meditative [...]
![Suuns – Images Du Futur [Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4965382_lg.jpg)
I know this album came out on March 5, 2013. Definitely one of my favorite albums to come out in 2013. If you haven't seen them live, you are miss out big time! Finally I have the time to do a review. Images Du Futur out on Secretly Canadian is the second album by the Montreal band. I've been a big fan since their debut album " Zeroes QC ". This is a far different album than expected. There is less of Ben Shermie's murmurs [...]

Being born in a country that birthed the Kwaito genre, it surely comes as no surprise that it's Benin City 's latest "Faithless" track tweaking my inner little ear-worm and that niggling familiarity button. It's an auditory feast that charges through different genre's by folding and layering them into one another. From the first introductory set of Indie chords, we're then gifted with some seriously hard hitting electro, bass and drum elevations that could easily spur an anthem-esque crowd chant. It is completely exciting for a new band to be pushing themselves at such an introductory stage. The Londonders [...]

"Grim Brides we are Denmark band. We found this internet blog on website and see Bristol doing excellent band at this moment. you like "fuck noisy music"?, you can feature Grim Brides on you blog site." Every now and again you get hit by something so hard that everything else around you disappears into a sea of black stars and white light. This happened to me whilst in a giant owl piñata in Brighton on the weekend after my head was thwacked by a guitar. I was fine, but [...]

There's a new band on the block. Producing some sweet post-folky-rock numbers with a hell a lot of substance, style and elegance right from the other side of the pond. Influenced by the likes of Austra, Nick Drake and Cat Power, New York-based Wilsen blend contemporary folk songs with ethereal, electric arrangements to create a full intricate sound tagged "dream folk". Wilsen self-released their debut mini-album 'Sirens' in the summer of 2012. Their debut single 'Anahita' was released in February 2013. New single 'Dusk' is released on the 10th June 2013. It comes backed by a cover of [...]

"Disappear", the swelling and soulful ballad from Mikky Ekko is the new self-produced track which he has dubbed as a "ruff demo" offering. Nay! This surely sounds like his best work yet and in my mind, he won't be disappearing anytime soon... The post Mikky Ekko: Disappear (ruff demo) appeared first on Indie Music Filter .
