PJOTR, "True Spirit" [ Udacha ] ( buy ) Since opening up shop last year, the Russian label Udacha has selected an esoteric but coherent assortment of scuffed, underground house tracks. Perhaps their canniest signing to date is PJOTR, a Berlin-based producer known only for an EP and one-off track on Ethereal Sounds. While this earliest work was definitely worthy of wider attention, Udacha 4 ought to should earn him [...]

Another day, another mysterious electronic producer. This one though, is something rather special. Bandshell 's new track 'Perc', released on Mute offshoot Liberation Technologies, is a throbbing and captivating piece of music. Fans of artists like Actress, Burial and Holy Other will likely find a lot to love in this, and more is yet to come with Bandshell's new EP Caustic View .

The Bandshell was packed and in high spirits by the time Little Dragon came on stage at the end of the Celebrate Brooklyn festival in Prospect Park. Despite their northern roots, the Suedes presence almost immediately made the thermometer go up a couple degrees – especially thanks to Yukimi Nagano’s bouncy stage presence that soon turned into an electrifying one. As the base and drums pounded out the rhythm with much more (too much?) potency than in the studio versions of the tracks, the crowd started dancing and singing along. Soon enough, Nagano was belting out the psychedelic lyrics of [...]

[ Hessle Audio ] The process of propulsive reductionism: the mastery of eking out compelling dance music from scarcity - this is Hessle Audio's forte. The best of their back catalog is unified by willingness to torch fat. And, as is befitting for a label that put so much stock in a lack of fuss, they also have a knack for finding idiosyncratic artists and releasing their music with no fanfare whatsoever. [...]
Hace cosa de un mes se nos presentaba vía soundcloud un trackresumen con el contenido del nuevo fichaje de Hessle Audio, Bandshell. Bienconsiderado por sus nuevos compañeros de sello (Elgato, [....]

The next Hessle Audio release to drop will be from debut producer Bandshell . With almost no information on the artist we turn to the tunes for guidance. The EP certainly has a darkness to it with a real stripped back feel to all the tunes. There is plenty of drive from the percussion and demonstrates once again that Hessle are not scared to push the musical boundaries. Watch out for this dropping on the 25th June.

New sounds on Hessle Audio from the enigmatic Bandshell, who's productions we highlighted on icnt.mx previously with his free EP on bandcamp. Bandshell's Hessle debut will feature four tracks very much in line with the aesthetic we have come to expect from Hessle Audio; rich in bass, complex percussion, and undeniably 'experimental' without being obnoxiously so. Previews of the release are available via Soundcloud, and the label has given a release date of June 25, 2012. Tracklist: A1) Dust March [...]

This is some new stuff from Hessle and I find it incredibly interesting. Oddly enough, I'm most into the straggler on B2 but the whole thing carries the same kind of minimally intricate weight. HES021 will see both a vinyl and digital release on June 25, so you should bookmark the Hessle page on Surus for the sake of convenience. Bandshell, EP promo mix

It's Wednesday night, summer time. Grab your friends, lovers, loving friends, blankets and dancing shoes and head over to the West LA Bandshell for the fourth night of Hide and Seek ! VERBS ( ACE OF BASE COVER ) Verbs - Stop actin like a Douche!

Although it’s been over a year since their latest album drop, Passion Pit continues to accelerate with no signs of slowing down, selling out almost every night on the tour so far. Since the emergence of “Sleepyhead” in 2008, the dreamy synth-pop you secretly listened to in high school is suddenly re-evaluated and, well, cool (think hellogoodbye with a better band). The catchy vocal samples, guitar riffs and dreamy lyrics are an unquestionably original comb ination, mixing rock, electronica and lo-fi pop in a beautiful blend delivered by the fun-loving boys of Passion Pit . Joining the band for [...]

On Wednesday night, MGMT (along with opening acts Kuroma and Suckers) played a homecoming concert at The Bandshell in Prospect Park. When I first saw them on October 30 at Webster Hall, I got the impression that they were timid rock stars, not yet comfortable with their impending stardom (although it might have been because their faces were obscured by gigantic mariachi hats). Eight months later, the band blossomed, particularly frontman Andrew VanWyngarden (above, right). His newfound dynamism had him moving around the stage, interacting with his band mates, and even talking to the audience. [...]
