While the house revival trend among electronic producers continues to flourish, the movement seems to have hit somewhat of a peak this year, more recently with an incredible three-track white label from Montreal's Jacques Greene, and with this stellar new track from Mosca titled "Done Me Wrong". The track takes Julio Bashmore's subtle yet euphoric synth style and mashes it up with a heavy bassline and some excellent vocal manipulations. The bassline is intensified by some heavy wobbles as well, and Mosca even touches off the track with a genuine spinback towards the beginning to build excitement and anticipation. I [...]

Mosca - Bax "Done Me Wrong" ain't too shabby either. Love this.

Mosca is Tom Reid (UK). With releases on Night Slugs, Fabric, and Domino in 2010 and 11, Mosca has been busy crafting crisp forward-thinking UK garage. He has also done some remixes for Four Tet and Foals. Describing his sound in an interview for Mixpak [25.01.2011] he comments, "I think that this sound is just kinda of post funky,  which is obviously a UK thing... but really what is it? Mosca made his presence felt in 2010 with his excellent ' Square One EP ' (Nightslugs), and ' Gold Bricks I See You ' (Fabric) releases. However since then there has only been a few remixes and not much else, which had left us wondering if Mosca like many promising DJ/Producers before him had been forgotten. Thankfully Mosca has dispelled that concern with consummate ease with his recently released 'Done Me Wrong/Bax' single, and now he is preparing the release of his Wavey EP on Martyn's 3024 label. Normally, you wouldn't associate this blog with garage of any kind and I can't really confess to being any kind of expert, but I did grow up in a town that dedicated most of its club nights to cheesy R'n'B and Garage, so allow me to indulge you.
