For the second year, Insomniac's Beyond Wonderland brand will be returning to the Bay Area. This time, however, Pasquale has moved the festival from Oakland down to the peninsula's Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View. The festival will also increase from a one to two day event on Saturday, September 28th and Sunday, September 29th. Shoreline has played host to a number of other dance-focused events, including Identity Fest and I Love This City. No official word on why this change occurred, but we think it may have something to do with the thousands of noise complaints Oakland area police [...]

I read a review of your most recent EP that called the title track a ‘timeless sound’. Do you have that in mind when making a record or is it something that just happens? It just happens. It sounded timeless because you just never get bored of it. You know, you can play it over and over again without getting bored, it gives you different emotions every time you play it. I think that’s what timeless is. It just happened. You can’t prepare, or you can’t say ‘oh, I’m going to do a timeless record now’, it just [...]
Lazy Sunday haze seeped through circumvallate pane. Showtime seemed everything but. Javelin and Jamaican Queens were scheduled to perform at eight. New Parish's hallowed walls ached, hollered for bodies to enter its hollow hall. As the magic hour eclipsed, the static domain was a far cry from the neighboring Fox Theater, teeming with tacky teens. "Swoon" starts with a maelstrom of digital dissonance. What at first sounds like a careless upload of a terrible quality mp3 you realize is made up of finely crafted overdrive, chorus and tons of reverb. It takes awhile for the vocals to come in but that makes their entrance all the more pleasing. Whirr, formerly known as Whirl, have been touring extensively since last year's full length, Pipe Dreams. This cut, considerably darker than anything they've previously done, is from their upcoming EP, Around , out on Graveface July 9th.

Kastle is a name that’s been on the tip of everybody’s tongue this year. With his debut album topping iTunes charts, and his North American tour reaching major cities in the US with only positive feedback, theres no doubt that this new producer is taking the electronic scene by storm. His combination of deep house, garage and bass music is a style to be coveted for, and his fans know him as one of the most diverse producers to date. Step aside generic electronic producers (I'm talking to you Avicii), this guy is gonna take the electronic music scene by [...]

Besides mutual love, trust and the other shit let me tell you about one of the major cornerstones in mine and bestie's relationship: She bells me, ask me "what's the name of this song???" and, at best, mumbles some words or, "I heard it on the radio/it's featured in this strange video of a kid dancing/someone hummed it", hands me the time it aired or url and cries "I NEEEEED IT FEEELICIAAA". I'm this type of person, I like information, I need to know things and seek information is my forte. Basically, I can't have a problem unsolved so I [...]

Big Up to all the female DJ's and Producers out there. I honestly feel like they don't get enough credit for what they do (besides being great at taking bubble baths, but were not going to comment on that!) So far Tokimonsta , a.k.a. Jennifer Lee, has been doing it big for the ladies and pumping out many wonderful tracks. Hailing from the South Bay area of Los Angeles, she's doing her thing and more people need to know who she is. You don't have to take my word for it; just listen to how awesome this remix [...]

Deemsta also known as Zach Gosney grew up norther California in the city of Martinez where he still resides. Zach had an early introduction into producing at the young age of 11 back when the PlayStation had MusicGenerator (essentially a production application for the gaming console). Inspired by local California talent and the Monsters(UK) , he's still very early in the Dubstep game but has a nice list of tracks produced under his belt. Deemsta is working on his first EP featuring ‘ Goon Type ’ and ‘ Sound Vandal ’ on Vibetown Records . Be sure to [...]

The battle over San Francisco's Wednesday night has intensified once again as a new contender enters the stage - Culture Red in collaboration with Slide SF. With a half-dozen mediocre options each Wednesday night, you can't blame a San Franciscan for wanting something fresh. If you're looking to class up your Wednesday clubbing but still keep it electrified, Culture might just be your new poison of choice. Culture is promising their future party goers anything from electro to deep house. And with Peacetreaty and Mightyfools already locked in as the headliners for their first and second parties, it's pretty clear [...]
