Want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Have some tunes to listen to (They will be up for 24 hours): Beach House - I Do Not Care For The Winter Sun Best Coast and Wavves - Got Something For You Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (2010 Version) Coldplay - Christmas Lights [...]

Happy motherfucking Christmas. There's a plethora of new music being released today but unfortunately my arm has been twisted into laying the table, cooking bits of food, wrapping presents and running after dogs and children - you know, the usual Christmas last-minute panic and shit. Tomorrow and the days following I'll be bringing you the best that 2010 had to offer musically. For now, though, here are my favourite 'alt' festive songs of the year (in order of personal preference). On behalf of Scrooges [...]

Is that time of year again !!!! Charts time, here is the part 1 of some of my favorite 2010 records, the order is irrelevante. Disappears - Lux / Kranky Listen | Disappears - Gone Completely "It's not often that Kranky gets excited enough about a straight-up rock band to agree to put out their album, but there is no denying the fact that [...]

Check out the shades on that Bear!!! Below are my favorite albums of 2010 and a song from each that is a good representation of each album. These albums / songs are not ranked in any type of order, but more how I felt they would blend together during a yule tide holiday listening session or something festive like that. [...]
Brianne's favorite records from 2010 include Deerhunter, Titus Andronicus and more. Read on!

Toronto - Put on your helmets, boys and girls. This list will be really long. It might seem repetitive because basically, when I like something, everyone knows about it. Sooner then later. In alphabetical order. Beach House - Teen Dream Just had a conversation with my coworkers today, and they asked me what music I listened to whenever I was hungover* at work and the first one that came up was Teen Dream , the third album from the Baltimore duo. It's a great mellow album full of well crafted [...]
Apparently, there has been an avalanche of new holiday music this year. This post is my attempt to round up all the free nice tunes, but there's so much I have to split it up in 2 parts. Hopefully, these music selections might soundtrack your holiday break well, or least, make it more bearable. For [...]

Every year we talk about doing a "Favorite Songs" list, but we never do because it always ends up being so huge and unwieldy (we like a lot of music, alright?!). But this year we decided to just break down and do it, only here's the catch: these are our Favorite Songs that DIDN'T appear on any of our Favorite Albums . So no matter how amazing "Cold War" or "Ambling Alp" or "We Used To Wait" might be, they won't be on this list. Instead this gives us a chance to highlight a bunch of other fantastic artists [...]

We asked some of our buddies in the game to serve up their faves of 2010 and they turned up the heat. More like it: FREE TIX: Clare Burson @ Cafe Du Nord 10/5/2010 LIVE REVIEW: El Perro Del Mar & Taken By Trees @ Cafe Du Nord 3/2/2010 FREE TIX: Dominant Legs & Magic Bullets @ Cafe Du Nord on 11/30

Best songs of the year is typically the most difficult list to make but also the most rewarding. There's nothing more indicative of a year in music then it's greatest songs, and evident from the tracks listed below, I'd venture to say 2010 was a pretty great year. To add some perspective and keep my head from exploding due to too much writing (it could happen), I asked Matt to help with the list this year. We combined our favorite songs list (carefully removing any artist overlaps) and came up with a definitive 50 best songs of 2010 [...]

50. Sonny and the Sunsets – Tomorrow is Alright 2010 was a good year for straight forward beach rock that drifted with carefree lyrics and concepts. Tomorrow is Alright took the genre into a more humorous and psychedelic direction and the results were quite rewarding. Just try listening to Planet of Women and not smiling, it's not possible. Not a whole lot is has been happening lately, yet at the same time there is still plenty to talk about. I admit that I'm a little late to the party on a couple of these releases, but I couldn't resist sharing them anyway. Small Black : Photojournalist/Sun Was High (So Was I) - As I mentioned a couple of entries ago, one of this year's unexpectedly great records was Small Black's New Chain . If [...]
Its pretty sad seeing 2010 go, and as I sift through my collections, drafting this list its making me all the more nostalgic. These songs are not necessarily the best, just the ones which struck the deepest with me over the year. They are the ones which I have had the best relationship with, strike up the best memories and relate to a particular positive time or place throughout the 2010. These twenty five are the melodies which i'll recall in a year, two years or even five years down the line and think, "Ah, 2010, what a fantastic year [...]
Making this list of 40 of the best songs of 2010 was one of the tougher things I have done in the almost-year I have been running the blog. It has coincided with the best year in Irish music that I can remember (and that Harmless Noise can remember too). [Read more]
Filed under: The Hit List One of our favorite parts about creating this list of top albums was reflecting on how unpredictable the year was. Be it '90s alt-rockers returning to form, music legends unearthing lost classics, Swedish indie artists producing pop jewels, cartoon bands coming out behind the curtain or disgraced rappers getting to give a "toast for the douchebags," 2010 kept our eclectic and [...]
