London based dreamsters Quimper contribute "Soft Bodies" to the compilation Soft Bodies Don't Bleed available here . It sounds like maybe what Beach House would have sounded like had they joined a traveling carnival act instead of signing to an indie label. The creepy synths sound even spookier next to the innocent child-like vocals. If you listen closely though it is striking and beautiful how they contextualize Beethovenian counterpoint and harmony into a hip dream pop song in 2013. Right on Quimper.

DC’s Gems drop their dreamy new single “Pegasus”. The duo are specializing in a hazy dream-pop sound that is deeply heartbreaking and romantic. The additional dynamic of having lead vocalist Lindsay get extra support from a glimpse of counterpart’s Clifford husky voice add a layer of depth unseen in most other acts of this genre. Fans of Beach House should absolutely love this.
Grossly belated as this may be, there are certain gospels that need preaching at any possible opportunity. And though Floridian Yuno (previously unouomedude) may have released the distinctly estival Sunlight last August, it's a scintillating ray that's still well worth the spreading. Like a jejune Deerhunter intermingled with earlier AnCo recordings and the poppier sensibilities of a certain Chazwick Bundick, it's a suitably warming sliver of shimmering Southeast Coast ebullience, even amid these gelid February climes.
