B3SCI has teamed up with the good peeps at Danger Village to drop this exclusive mix of their choice Spring 2013 worthy jams. Owner Beth Martinez curates the mix track by track below. Hibernation doesn't stand a chance. 1) holychild “Best Friends” This song sets the tone perfectly for what I want to come across in this mix. For spring we’re looking to brighter, organic sounds threaded through with good feelings of friendship and laughter. Shifting away from the electronic-heavy vibes of the last mix, this song [...]

The hip-hop community is very much based on, well, community, so sometimes when artists from other genres venture into their discographies—suspicion erupts. Is this cover genuine? Does the artist under and respect the rich history that accompany so many of these songs? At P&P we have equal love for all genres, and though rockers may have taken ironic stances toward covering rap, R&B, and pop songs in the past, we've curated a list of some that seem like heartfelt homages to the original artists. From the existential questions of Soulja Boy to the heartbroken wails of [...]
It was around a quarter to seven last night that, before an impatient if well lubricated congregation in a Maida Vale studio, an astonishingly unperturbed Melvin Benn sat propped up on a BBC stool brandishing a wry smirk and a boyish glint in each eye. Vastly magnified by his convex lenses, he exuded a palpable confidence right there and then that was not only immediately apparent, but so too quite robustly founded. For Latitude last year arose to the challenge of installing itself among Britain's great festival elite – a task prompted by the drastic [...]

Similar to our weekly collection of MP3s , we decided to start ranking each week's best videos. So, from here on out, our favorite weekly videos will be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who reigns champ this week? Grab some popcorn, sit back, and find out. 10. CHVRCHES – “Recover” Synth-pop meets J.J. Abrams style visuals in CHVRCHES' video for “Recover”. While it doesn’t tell the most fascinating story, or really any story for that matter, it’s still gorgeous to look at. The Recover EP is out [...]

We hate to be so consistently good about picking our Song of the Week, but we've got another doozy on our hands this week. Yes, AGAIN. In terms of female version of ...

Similar to our weekly collection of MP3s , we decided to start ranking each week's best videos. So, from here on out, our favorite weekly videos will be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who reigns champ this week? Grab some candy, sit back, and find out. 10. Companion – “Only” In nearly a single take, Companion transform an empty beach into a kaleidoscopic vision of dancing ladies and twirling fabric. The video is nearly as idyllic as the guitar-driven melody, an ocean-sized void filled with brilliant rhythms and beautiful [...]

As we enter February and the cruel winter finally begins to release it's icy grip on Britain, everyone's favourite feline friendly dream poppers Beach House are back with a short film that's sure to evoke those summer memories. In the wake of last years critically acclaimed "Bloom", the 26 minute clip titled "Forever Still" sees the band perform four songs in the postcard perfect El Paso Desert between sunset and sunrise, with non-descript yet mesmerising interludes intermittently thrown in for good measure. The group explained the meaning behind the clip, which was filmed over three nights in association with [...]

Duos in music are nothing new, but it seems like indie duos are having a moment right now. Some of the best music out there is coming from groups with two core members, and while they may go on tour with full bands or collaborate with producers and musicians to fully form their sound, its the magical combination of two creative forces that make these acts what they are. It's all about balance, like the classic and timeless PB&J. The sweetness from the jelly is cut down by the earthiness of the peanut butter and together, they make for [...]

Cats, cats, big feline animals. That's what Sundaze #41 is all about visually at least. Phonically, however, we have some truly awe inspiring tracks to share with you this week. It's most definitely a little electronic oriented in this edition. We're happy to present you nineteen (19) tunes you wouldn't want to miss for any reason what so ever. Big huge thanks to Paul Grelet for the cover art as always : www.paulgrelet.com . With no further ado here's what you've been patiently waiting for all week, or at least we [...]
At long last our best albums of 2012 have arrived. 2012 proved to be a magical music year for indie rockers and time-tested MUF favorites. We've scoured our resources ...
After our time spent at Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania, we’ve developed a somewhat informative list (I make lists all the time) of 9 rules/tips, that can hopefully help out future Falls-goers by learning from our many mistakes and few victories. Rule #1: Get your grog in. This one’s key. I don’t want to make us all out to sound like useless alcoholics and that you need a bottle of Captain Morgan’s Spiced Gold each day to have a good time – but it’s the truth. And [...]

![[VIDEO] Beach House – “New Year”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4700121_lg.jpg)
Beach House has found themselves near the top of nearly every "best of" list for this past year with their hit album Bloom . With that work now in the rear view mirror looking back on 2012, they released a homemade video for a tune appropriately titled "New Year". The video was shot at the same location where they recently filmed a short film entitled "Forever Still". The video for "New Year" is a collection of clips looking back on the time they group spent in Texas. Check it out.
Here I am, left to go last once again with my favorite songs of the year. I feel as though I listened to more in 2012 than in any other year, and my musical experience was all the better for it. More music means more candidates, which admittedly makes lists like this one tougher. But [...]
