There's an intimacy to Victoria Legrand's vocals, as if every lyric might be an aside to a close friend or a lover. It makes the listener feel like they're privy to something, included in and invited to Legrand's nostalgic, dream world, and the result is that every album, every track and every note is imbued with with a wonderfully relatable and accessible humanness. "Lazuli" combines that intimacy with an epic and larger-than-life mentality that really allows Beach House to soar, for it's that dichotomy between sonic smallness to bigness that makes this band one the best we've got.

Following "Myth," Beach House has just released its second single from the forthcoming album Bloom . This is a strong single, and sounds like a bit of a progression for Beach House. It's a sleepy track with delicate keyboards, distant drums, and an ethereal vibe. Victoria LeGrand sounds especially carefree here, and with summer around the corner, this track arrives at the perfect time. / via /

Back in early March we posted the first single from Beach House's upcoming second album Myth . Well now they've just released the second, Lazuli , and it's rather brilliant too. Echoey soundscapes underpin a menacing, reverb-drenched vocal. The band recently hinted that Bloom will be darker than its predecessor Teen Dream explaining that its themes are "death and loss of innocence" . Can't wait. Lazuli will be released on Record Store Day (April 21) with the B-side, non-album track Equal Mind .

On April 21, independent record stores around the country will be participating in Record Store Day . Lots of indie bands are releasing a single specifically to commemorate that day and one such band is Beach House, who contributed a track called Lazuli. Beach House specializes in atmospheric music and this is a great example of that. This is really cool sounding song; the vocals are equally as great. Listen to the song below:

Brand new Beach House single! “Lazuli” is the most majestic song you will hear in quite some time, and it makes me want to become king of an abandoned island. This sounds like something that would come out of my favorite fantasy movie of all time, Big Fish . It is just completely ethereal and so unbelievably bliss.  With this and “Myth” already firmly on my top songs of the year list, there is no way Bloom won’t be better than Teen Dream .  Maybe the Big Fish influence is actually there, as the album is [...]

After Teen Dream , I half expected Beach House to take 3 years off, come back with some sort of avant-record that sounded like keyboard sex music and then break up. Instead, they've taken home the top prize in our March Music Madness this year (so congrats there) and been dropping a series of teases from their new record Bloom including this expansive Casio-sounding (semi-sexy) music out on 2400 physical copies of blue, blue vinyl this Saturday for Record Store Day.
