"You had the experience, and the knowledge" Gothenburg four-piece Great Hare woefully intone on What Went Wrong? and themselves a mélange of once revered indie conies, you'd be forgiven for thinking they were self-effacingly writing themselves off in singing as such. Though with its wilting guitar lines immediately evocative of those fabled tones for which Alex Scally is now so widely famed (here think Myth ) and its vocal an unassuming blend of Malkmus lethargy, Shout Out Louds' understated whimpering and Owen Wilson-esque self-deprecation, its four, forty-six make for a quietly accomplished statement of intent. Not that they've grand [...]

I don’t know how to write about music. I don’t know what time signatures are, what it means for a song to change time signatures, or if I like it when songs change time signatures. I don’t know what dubstep is or if it’s prohibitively uncool to like songs that experts call twee. I don’t know what distinguishes music that is brilliant because it is inaccessible from music that sucks because it is inaccessible. I don’t even know why I like the songs I like. Lacking insight into the real reasons for [...]

Not to be outdone by The xx playing Conan tonight, Beach House returned to the late-night TV circuit to play Jimmy Fallon's show. Unlike their other late-night appearance on Letterman where they played "Myth" , this time they played two tracks from their sublime album Bloom . On the show they performed "Wild" and then as an exclusive web performance they played "Wishes" , both of which you can watch [...]

You knew this one was coming, the second part to Beach House 's fantastic Jools Holland visit where they played "Myth" at the start of the week. This time they played Record Store Day single "Lazuli" beneath a rosy red glow, stoic as ever, gorgeous as ever. Their new album "Bloom" is out now and is, to put it as eloquently as I can, God damn fucking awesome. [...]
Another episode of Jools Holland where he puts every other music-based television show to shame. This week it's Beach House 's turn to show the world of shitty music how it's done, with a fantastic and rousing performance of "Myth" , the lead single from their current album-of-the-year-contender "Bloom" . Beach House: Bloom - Beach House is an indie pop duo from Baltimore, MD. If you've never heard Beach House before, there's really only a few ways to describe them. I would say they were indie dream pop with minimalist keyboards, deep female vocals and glittery guitars... which is exactly what they were on their first 2 records. Beginning with Teen Dream , they ditched the minimalist beats for fuller, more shimmery beats, smoother vocals and guitars that not only retained their glitter, but were also larger than life. The melodies sounded like they thought about them [...]
Buy Beach House 's album "Bloom" : Vinyl | MP3 | CD Beach House is on a short list of bands who have a distinctively beautiful sound of their own. They have been imitated by many bands who ultimately fall short of achieving the cavernous depths of Victoria Legrand ’s voice and the simple brevity of Alex Scally ’s musicianship. “Bloom” is Beach House ’s first release since 2010’s “Teen Dream” , which [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Let's face it, there's no one out there crafting music just like Beach House . That is, except Beach House . Seems redundant doesn't it? Well, if you're looking for a fault on the band's fourth LP, then it might be that the group seems a bit cornered on Bloom . While the music itself is beautifully emotional, it's not too far from where they left off with Teen Dream ; that's going [...]

"An album that is more than likely to keep the duo's momentum going..." Beach House | Bloom It was Beach House’s third album, 2010’s Teen Dream , that put the Baltimore duo firmly on the alternative musical map. Its detached, slower-paced soundscapes were thrown against sweet, hummable melodies to produce what many called a rather delightful dream-pop record. What becomes clear fairly soon when pressing play on Bloom , a collection of songs written in hotel rooms, during soundchecks and when enjoying minimal downtime, is that this is an album [...]
Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally of Beach House have been redefining their own brand surreal, flip-flop-gazing art/pop over the course of three albums including '09's breakout Teen Dream . New Bloom (May 15, Sub Pop) continues the dreamy soundscapes with Legrand, the niece of legendary French composer Michel Legrand, and Scally taking us by the hand and leading us through celestial, chiming guitars, dense electronic atmospherics and hymnlike vocal harmonies for a stately sound that touched both Pet Sounds and Cocteau Twins. The duo, who shared co-production duties [...]

Listen to the new Beach House album "Bloom" below. It's one of our most-anticipated releases of the entire year, if not the decade so far, but at long last you can now hear Beach House 's new album "Bloom" , via NPR. After their last album "Teen Dream" had such a profound effect on me back in 2010, I've set myself the task of not listening to it until my double vinyl arrives [...]
Listen to Beach House 's new song "Equal Mind" below. Today is Record Store Day in many parts of the world, a day that sees exclusive limited runs of vinyl by some of the world's best acts, and Beach House 's part in all of this was the first physical release from their upcoming album "Bloom", after the digital release of "Myth" . The lead track is "Lazuli" , one we initially heard a [...]

Back in early March we posted the first single from Beach House's upcoming second album Myth . Well now they've just released the second, Lazuli , and it's rather brilliant too. Echoey soundscapes underpin a menacing, reverb-drenched vocal. The band recently hinted that Bloom will be darker than its predecessor Teen Dream explaining that its themes are "death and loss of innocence" . Can't wait. Lazuli will be released on Record Store Day (April 21) with the B-side, non-album track Equal Mind .

We Listen For You puts it best "Beach House is doing that thing where they only make amazing songs." After dropping the oh-so-good "Myth" last month , Beach House have followed it up with the release of "Lazuli" . Both tracks are super good (i still enjoy "Myth" a bit more) and I can't wait for hear the rest of Bloom , which is Beach House's upcoming LP Bloom is shaping up to be one 20122s best. "Lazuli" will be featured on a special [...]
I can't stop listening to this wonderful, mystical song. "Myth" is the first single from Beach House's new album Bloom out May 15. On record store day (April 21) Beach House will be releasing a blue vinyl single of "Lazuli." The b-side will feature the song "Equal Mind" that the band says, "will never exist in a digital way." Be sure to support your local record stores and pick up Beach House's limited edition vinyl on Saturday! In the meantime, get back to listening!
