Deirdre O'Callaghan Sometimes the best kinds of surprises are the ones you already knew were coming. For example - everyone knew The National was making a new record. High Violet came out way back in Spring 2010, touring behind it wrapped in late 2011, and they've since been posting updates from the studio via Instagram . Everyone knows they've not been idle, and yet it was hard not to feel a shiver when the official press release arrived in the inbox, announcing the album was done and [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Let's face it, there's no one out there crafting music just like Beach House . That is, except Beach House . Seems redundant doesn't it? Well, if you're looking for a fault on the band's fourth LP, then it might be that the group seems a bit cornered on Bloom . While the music itself is beautifully emotional, it's not too far from where they left off with Teen Dream ; that's going [...]

Every week we're lambasted with free streams by everybody and everywhere. This week's album streams come from two acts from opposite coasts who aren't strangers to the scene. Silversun Pickups is hustling their latest album, "Neck of the Woods," out via Dangerbird. It's their third album and the second since their stellar debut "Swoon." After a couple of listens, the vast majority of the album is radio ready and should get plenty of airplay. Beach House is out to prove that "Teen Dream" was no fluke with their latest release, "Bloom." Maybe [...]

NPR comes through yet again.

The B side of Beach House's Lazuli is Equal Mind. It's a shame that this track won't be on their new album Bloom . We know this isn't the typical Beach House sound, but its tranquil sound and slow drum are extremely catchy. Check out Equal Mind below.

Beach House has mastered the art of crafting melancholic wispy music perfect for the times you want to get bummed out and enjoy a good cry. Check out the second track to surface from "Bloom,"the forthcoming title from the Sub Pop alums with a May 15 release date. Beach House News of a new Beach House album is always welcome round our gaff - a couple of weeks ago, a possible leaked album tracklist (never properly confirmed by the band) and album title ( Bloom ) suggested that something was on the way from the duo behind one of 20102s best albums, Teen Dream . Now, a new song has emerged - it's called 'Myth' and will feature on Beach House's new record, which is indeed called Bloom and might be coming out in May. 'Myth' unfurls [...]
Victoria Legrand and Alex Scalley's Teen Dream follow-up is on the way.

French electronic duo Air has announced a follow-up to 2009's Love 2 .

Since breaking up for a long stretch last decade and last recording in 2009, Trey Anastasio tells Rolling Stone that his group Phish is eyeing a return to the studio in the winter. This will come after the band concludes their upcoming tour, which includes two sets at August's Outside Lands and a stop at the Hollywood Bowl. "We are talking about opening the door to some kind of new album this winter," Anastasio notes. "Next year is looking like it will be a less busy touring year, mostly because of family obligations for some of [...]

So there is always massive amounts of music out there, but we here at Slowcoustic take pride in knowing more than anyone about what is good. Don't get us wrong and label us as music snobs, we are just better than anyone else at picking music that isn't shite! Okay, the bravado music blogger persona is out (so very 2008 anyway), but I do have some suggestions on new music Tuesday for a variety of tunes (there is variety this time, trust me we have indie, dream-pop, indie-electro-rock, folk noir, etc...). There is much more out there today, but start [...]

[Ed. Note: Remember Lin from KR Goes Global ? Well she's still looking for great non-Western bands to blog about for us, but in the meantime we couldn't resist having her review the much-anticipated and highly publicized Beach House release. So, this review is written by Lee as the byline up top says, but rather by Lin herself. Enjoy, and visit her blog "Rock Loves Romantic", here .] By Lin Lizhuang In Flann O’Brien’s novel, The Third Policeman , there is a mention [...]
