Today we flash back on another of our favourite labels: SUB POP RECORDS . They're responsible for the careers of a diverse range of bands, from Nirvana to Dum Dum Girls to our very own Husky . And they're celebrating 25 years in the business on July 13. That means that they've been around since 1988. Before that founder Bruce Pavitt started a fanzine called Subterranean Pop about American independent artists and their labels. He started releasing compilations [...]
Still in the midst of a never-ending victory lap, Beach House leisurely stormed San Francisco last Tuesday night.

Alright. Let me just say that this Beach House video is totally amazing. It features Ray Wise, best known for his role as Laura Palmer's father Leland Palmer in David Lynch's epic Twin Peaks series. "Wishes", directed by Eric Wareheim, is equally as imaginative, other-worldly and surreal as Wise's famed role. Wise assumes the role of a pep-rally coach or head figure; he also takes over Victoria LeGrand's vocals, lip syncing her part in the song. Acrobatics, cheerleaders and other pep-rally-like activities commence, but something's not quite right. [...]
CALLING ALL TWIN PEAKS FANS! *fangirling* Beloved dream-pop outfit Beach House have unleashed the bizarre music video for "Wishes," off of last year's album Bloom . The video features Twin Peaks' Ray Wise (aka Leland Palmer) and shows him doing what he does best at, singing of course , along to the beautiful track. There's no BOB in the video sadly (or Leland shuffle ), but Director Eric Wareheim still gives [...]

In the newest video from Beach House , the always clever Eric Wareheim (of Tim & Eric) goes pretty far out there to a (high school?) sporting event that exists merely in dreams. Beach House - Wishes Buy Beach House's album 'Teen Dream' from iTunes by clicking here .
Wow! That is all I have to say about Beach House's new video for Bloom track "Wishes". The video, directed by Eric Warheim and starring Ray Wise, is an absolute stunner. It takes place in a football stadium with medieval times dressed with horses, fireworks, cheerleaders, and more. I really have no other words to describe it other than epic. Watch below.

Grossly belated as this may be, there are certain gospels that need preaching at any possible opportunity. And though Floridian Yuno (previously unouomedude) may have released the distinctly estival Sunlight last August, it's a scintillating ray that's still well worth the spreading. Like a jejune Deerhunter intermingled with earlier AnCo recordings and the poppier sensibilities of a certain Chazwick Bundick, it's a suitably warming sliver of shimmering Southeast Coast ebullience, even amid these gelid February climes. The ultimate all year round wonder then, get enlightened below... Sunlight by Yuno Yuno's [...]
Beach House released an absolutely stunning short film titled Forever Still. Checking in at just under 27-minutes, it sees the band performing four of their Bloom tracks at scenic locations in Texas. If you are looking for something to take your mind off of work during your lunch break, this is the perfect solution. Watch below.

Another arbitrary 365-day cycle has come and gone, offering the music world an opportunity to reflect on the fruits of the preceding year’s toil. Most frequently, these reflections come in the form of innumerable 'Best Of' lists, but for 2013, dream pop duo Beach House decided to reminisce the retro way: with an old school home video. The band’s latest video for “New Year,” off of 2012’s Bloom , samples footage from their recording session at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas. The video is replete with up-close-and-personal shots of the [...]

Beach House brought in the new year with a video for the appropriately titled "New Year" off last year's Bloom . It put's to close a phenomenal year for the band that saw their profile continue to grow beyond the indie world. From the band: Here is a video we made using footage from our recording session at Sonic Ranch Studios, Tornillo, Texas. It's more of a home video thing, not a music video.......we just thought these moments and the memories they involve fit this song. [...]

These are my 50 favorite songs released in 2012 I submitted them for this year's Contrast Podcast Festive Fifty. We'll see how many show up in the final vote! In spite of the numbering, I like everything from about #15 to the end of the list about equally. This was an excellent music year for me. One of the reasons I stopped blogging was that I no longer wanted to risk legal action by uploading mp3s. Unfortunately, the WordPress version on our poor, neglected site is now too old to [...]
![Beach House & Poor Moon @ Club Soda [October 14, 2012]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4565572_lg.jpg)
This was a special fun day! A friend asked me if I wanted to see Beach House at Club Soda in Montreal. I was like "hell ya!" and there was no way I am going to miss this opportunity since I love their music. Also a band like Beach House would never come to Ottawa (Probably if they play Bluesfest). The show was totally sold out and filled with hipsters . Opening up the show was Poor [...]

Beach House has provided a steady flow of a particular brand of dream pop for the last eight years and, most recently, released its fourth studio album Bloom on Sub Pop. It some cases, however, its refreshing to revisit something you may have missed or just forgot. White Moon was released in 2010 on an iTunes Session EP, and previous to this remix, I had never heard it. Vocalist Victoria Legrand carries a deep, soothing resonance while she plays the keyboard and Alex Scally maintains a bright constancy on guitar. [...]
