The first weekend of Coachella flew by, and there were lots of memorable moments. Hell, R. Kelly joined Phoenix onstage in a surprise moment of the festival. Given the nature of the festival, with its well-established live streaming and eager fans with cameras in hand, it wasn't long before a decent amount of videos hit the web. Alright. Let me just say that this Beach House video is totally amazing. It features Ray Wise, best known for his role as Laura Palmer's father Leland Palmer in David Lynch's epic Twin Peaks series. "Wishes", directed by Eric Wareheim, is equally as imaginative, other-worldly and surreal as Wise's famed role. Wise assumes the role of a pep-rally coach or head figure; he also takes over Victoria LeGrand's vocals, lip syncing her part in the song. Acrobatics, cheerleaders and other pep-rally-like activities commence, but something's not quite right. [...]

Everything about this. Everything. I don't know whether to take it as an outsider fantasy, social commentary on professional sports, or an expansion-of-brand idea for Medieval Times . Either way you slice it it is fantastic. More of this. And a turkey drumstick, thank you.

Yesterday, Beach House and Phoenix both dropped mindbending, huge-budgeted videos at basically the exact same moment; as soon as I got done writing up one of them, I had to launch into the next one right away. La música de Beach House podrá ser etérea, melancólica y hermosa, pero lo cierto es que los de Baltimore no ven de la misma manera sus videos. Es verdad que la banda nunca se ha conformado con producir audiovisuales tradicionales, pero también es verdad sus videos siempre han sido extraños, por decir lo menos. Y para muestra basta un botón llamado "Wishes" , el nuevo sencillo de su más reciente placa, Bloom , del que precisamente acaban de presentar su muy extraño video promocional . [...]

Beach House have gone quite far outside the box with their video for "Wishes", employing Ray Wise of Twin Peaks fame as the star and Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric as the director. Wise provides the soundtrack to a sporting event that cannot be described without words like "ridiculous" and "baffling", but needless to say it culminates in him riding a white stallion. It's confusing as hell, yet absolutely amazing. Pressing play is all that needs to be done.
