As we enter February and the cruel winter finally begins to release it's icy grip on Britain, everyone's favourite feline friendly dream poppers Beach House are back with a short film that's sure to evoke those summer memories. In the wake of last years critically acclaimed "Bloom", the 26 minute clip titled "Forever Still" sees the band perform four songs in the postcard perfect El Paso Desert between sunset and sunrise, with non-descript yet mesmerising interludes intermittently thrown in for good measure. Early last month Beach House released their video for "New Year", which was comprised of footage from the band's time in Tornillo, Texas, where they recorded last year's Bloom . But, the band didn't stop there. During their recording sessions at the Texas studio they compiled loads of beautiful footage, and now it comes together in the short film Forever Still . Beach House released their short film "Forever Still" today via Pitchfork.tv . I finally got around to sitting down and properly watching the entire thing. It's a thing of beauty. "Before releasing Bloom, we decided that we would only participate in 'promotional' activities that we could control artistically and give substantial energy. We had previously been involved in too many live sessions, radio tapings, photo shoots, etc., where the outcome was far below our personal artistic standards. Any reason to listen to revisit Beach House's beautiful music will always be welcome to us, and if that reason is a well-shot short film, so be it. "Forever Still" begins with a drive out of an suburban area somewhere in the Southwestern US and into the dessert, and then "Wild" is performed with a wide open sunset sky as a backdrop.
