Bear In Heaven make music that I wouldn't typically spend too much time with, but there's something about this band that is stirring up quite the buzz pot lately that keeps spinning my attention. We all had a really great time last Sunday night despite the last minute disappearance of our cash bar (though it turned out that Freddie's Lounge across the street provided a great option for those interested in libations between sets). Saturday and Sunday are blockbuster days for the Pitchfork fest . Saturday's headliner is LCD Soundsystem , part of the last tour for James Murphy and his band. Animal Collective's Panda Bear will be previewing new songs off an upcoming album . And the great Wolf Parade will be playing songs off its recently released album. Many bands' touring plans were delayed, deterred, diverted, or altogether canceled because of the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption. One of those bands was Brooklyn synth-rockers Bear in Heaven. “Bear In Heaven was stranded in the Madrid Airport. Someone muttered the band name Bear In Heaven to me late last year, and upon first glance it sparked some interest, but ceases to fall off my radar completely. Triple bills that are stacked from top to bottom pose many different quandaries. What if the first band on the bill blows you away so much in fact that you can't stay for the other two bands that you had initially wanted to see. That kind of happened yesterday.
