Tweet Oh hell yeah! Let's get right to the point. It's the fookin' Beastie Boys and they're back with a brand new edition and it's about bloody time too. The new record is called Hot Sauce Committee Part Two and it's out via Capitol on the 3rd of May. Do I really need to talk about how great this trio has been for almost thirty years? I didn't think so. Let it simply be known that hip hop owes these three a huge debt. As legendary as Mike D, MCA [...]

“My rhymes age like wine as I get older,” raps Mike D, 45, on the brand new Beastie Boys track he posted to the iconic hip-hop trio’s official site this afternoon. “I’m getting bolder, competition is waning.” As said rhymes and the single’s title, “Make Some Noise,” boast, MCA, Ad-Rock, and Mike D are aiming to reclaim the spotlight in the uber-competitive genre; a goal this tight, analog-crunchy cut proves is well within their means. The full LP, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 , is due out May 3 — complete with guest performances by Nas (his [...]

Mike D : Beastie Boy. Skilled remixer . Wine connoisseur? As The Daily Swarm points out, Mr. Mike Diamond has given up his Brass Monkey for the sweet aromas of wine, which he'll discuss on "Mike D's Blog", an exclusive feature at wine critic James Suckling’s new website, JamesSuckling.com . You can check out his first entry here , in which he calls a half-bottle of 1er Cru Burgundy "surprisingly ready to rock — ripe fruits, earthy notes, even a little bit of refined funk…" Between this and a [...]
Boscoe Delrey is a newer Mad Decent signee. The story behind this remix, according to Stereogum , is that the Mad Decent offices are located in Beastie Boys’ old studio. Diplo sent Mike D photos of the space, after the Mad Decent takeover/makeover, along with some tracks from the label’s talent. Ad-Rock heard Delrey through Mike D, and wanted to do a remix. Mike D is also apparently working on one for Delrey, so stay tuned for that. About Bosco Delrey, Diplo describes him as " a sort of garbage can Elvis from New Jersey... [...]

It's cool they are making a celeb packed movie about the "Fight For Your Right" video. Kenny Fucking Powers, apparent Trees doppleganger Seth Rogen, and Elijah Wood (?) are going to be the Beastie Boys. It's supposed to show what happens when the "video ends". Also.. the Beasties fucked up by not including the RICKSTER in this remake.. Via Last month, we reported that cancer-battling Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, aka MCA, had directed Fight for Your [...]

Mike D of Beastie Boys is still super cool. He and his 808 are responsible for this cool reworking of the new Lykke Li single, "Get Some." It starts with some fresh beats and an editing of Lykke's singing turned backwards. The last minute of the remix is the most intriguing though, when her vocals become the background of the song. Enjoy and also check out the music video and our live review/photos . Lykke Li - Get Some (Mike D Remix) by The FADER [...]

One third of legendary New York hip hop ensemble Beastie Boys, Mike D, breaks out his trusty 808 for two reworkings of recent indie favorites. His take on Matt & Kim’s latest single “Cameras” (one of our favorite songs of the year ) divides Matt Johnson’s vocals out of the original’s singsongy, cartoonish synthesized-horn backbeat and adds them into throbbing synth and skittering drum machine – it’s a vaguely sinister, appealingly different re-imagining. Check it out. Continue reading: Beastie Boys' Mike D Remixes Matt & Kim, Lykke Li Subscribe [...]
