I've been constantly humming Telstar's "Karate Luv" since it was first played to me at a particularly intoxicating desert jam session back in April. The trio recently unveiled their DIY video for the track and which immediately brought to mind the humor and creativity of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" video; not a bad thing at [...] The post Weekend Videos: Telstar - "Karate Luv" appeared first on Cougar Microbes .
Right now, Titus Andronicus and the So So Glos are on the so-called "Bring Back The Dudes" tour, bringing sweaty and messy punk-rock singalongs to bars across this great nation. And both bands came together onstage to end a recent set at the New Orleans venue Siberia. The So So Glos guys drunkenly paid homage to their home borough (and Titus's adopted home) by covering the Beastie Boys' deathless " No Sleep Till Brooklyn ," tweaking lyrics while appropriate, while Titus frontman Patrick Stickles wandered around smoking and shaking a tambourine. This show looks fun as fuck, and the So [...]
Ored from the same mindset as ‘So Good To Me’ by Chris Malinchak, Francesco Rossi’s ‘Paper Aeroplane’ is set to become a wondrous 2013 Iberian/club anthem with a set of illustrious remixes to follow (no doubt) as soon as the momentum of this impressive Original runs out. Strengthened by its percussive backing and soulful soothing chorus, Francesco Rossi brings an element of magic to the ever broad genre known as house music. Accompanied by two remixes from Starkillers (Nick Terranova) inside a flamboyant bonus selection from ourselves, Dimtry KO , Starkillers and [...]

South Africans JACK PAROW and P.H.FAT collaborate for the track 'Spring Moederfokker' and what accompanies it is a kind of insane video where very jumps around an institution filled with nurses eat hotdogs suggestively and men where too revealing clothes and oversize hats. Fronted by Die Antwoord collaborator Jack Parow 'Spring Moederfokker' is a track that appears built for a party environment which is at least partly thanks to the killer beat pulsating through the course of the [...]
Explosions, expletives, exotic dancers - OH MY! Local disco duo Night Panther's video for their single "Fever" features all the elements you could expect to see in a Tarantino film (plus a car chase!) in just under 12 minutes - but in a lo-fi, campier style, naturally. The video pulls elements of Beastie Boys' 1994 "Sabotage" video, ... Continue reading

Blue Sky Black Death and Nacho Picasso 's great third album, Exalted , gets a well-deserved boost today thanks to the fresh visuals for standout cut "Kickin' Out Windows". Armed with BSBD's airy, Beastie Boys-sampling production, Nacho talks his shit and makes off-the-wall references to Andre Agassi, pro wrestling legends, and more. He also rocks one hell of a denim outfit in the video, which mostly features him and his crew getting nice and faded. Check it out below.

Awww yeah. Happy Thursday.

Pocos días antes de que M83 diera el conciertazo que dio en el Primavera Sound, se estrenó el último vídeo extraído de su álbum Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, y que [....]

One of the items on my bucket-list before I die is to make it out to Barcelona for Primavera Sound. The city sculpted by Gaudi by the sea is amazing and breathes romanticism on every corner, especially the ones with Lichtenstein piece adorning them. Check out a longer video from the Cure playing the vast majority of their PS set spanning most of their major hits. The Roots continue to display why they're one of the best live bands going and hardest working by playing the JazzReggae Fest over at UCLA performing a [...]

The footage is kind of shaky, and audio kind of shotty, but it doesn't even matter. While playing at the UCLA Jazz and Reggae Fest last weekend, The Roots did a live cover of the Beastie Boys' classic, "Paul Revere". The performance was dedicated to MCA, and this is a proper dedication. Peep it below.
During their performance at this year's JazzReggae Festival, the Roots paid homage to two of music's recent fallen giants. As Black Thought says as an introduction, this live take on Beastie Boys classic " Paul Revere " is a tribute to both Adam "MCA" Yauch and Chuck Brown . You'll also hear some riffs from Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" thrown into the mix, which the Dust Brothers sampled on another Beasties classic, "She's Crafty". Anyway, enough hip-hop nerdery. Watch the performance below. [ via ]

The influence of Beastie Boys ' Adam Yauch is still coming to light weeks after his untimely death. The latest comes courtesy of French electro rockers M83 's new video, "Reunion", off their impressive 2011 release Hurry Up We're Dreaming . Directed by Fleur & Manu and produced by DIVISION, the clip continues the story begun in the group's last video "Midnight City", which saw a bunch of telekinetic children of the corn levitating and crushing heavy objects Chronicle [...]
The Roots paid tribute to two musical legends with one inventive cover last weekend at UCLA's JazzReggae Festival. By "go-go-fying" this take on the Beastie Boys' Paul Revere, the Philadelphia natives honored both Chuck Brown and MCA . Ch-ch-check it out... The Roots - Paul Revere [via OkayPlayer ]
Earlier this month, we lost Beastie Boy Adam Yauch , and credit the government of his home state for knowing that they should probably do something to honor the man's legacy. A couple of days ago, State Senator Daniel Squadron drafted a resolution to honor Yauch, and the state Senate adapted it. Below, watch video of Squadron introducing the resolution. Read More...
"WHYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?" Anyone who grew up in the 90's would tell you "Sabotage" is easily one of the defining music videos of the decade, whereby the Beastie Boys riff on '70s cop shows with an exa

Flying Lotus previews some of his most recent work during a gig at Sonar Sao Paulo. The work will be featured on his new project, Until the Quiet Comes. Mixing in some new stuff and even throwing in a nod to MCA playing Beastie Boys track, "Intergalatic," and Radiohead, "Idioteque," Fly Lo leaves no creative stone unturned.

Since Adam Yauch 's death on May 4 , tributes to both MCA and the Beastie Boys have rolled in , but this may be our favorite. James Winters , a Portland-based filmmaker, created a reenactment of the Boys' Spike Jonze -directed "Sabotage" video , enlisting the help of his wife, kids and nephew in order to pay tribute to MCA. Car chases and jumping off ledges, however silly they were portrayed in the original video, are a bit too dangerous for children, so this remake gets a few changes: high-rise [...]
