Really sad news in the music world today as it was just released that Adam Yauch, better known to most as MCA and co-founder of the Beastie Boys, has succumbed to his battle with cancer. Adam was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 after a tumor was discovered in his salivary gland and has been withgoing treatment ever since. A true pioneer in every sense of the word in the hip hop and music world in general. Let's remember him for his unique style and influence as well as the brand of humor and fun-loving attitude he brought [...]

Mick Boogie has done a lot of mixtapes throughout his career, yet has never made one centering on the music of the Beastie Boys. It's something he always wanted to do, and with the Beastie's recently being inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, finally felt the time was right. The mixtape is entitled Grand Royal, and will drop tomorrow. For the mixtape's cover, Mick Boogie linked with Jonathan Mannion to recreate the Beastie Boys' iconic cover of Paul's Boutique . Mick Boogie + Jonathan Mannion = Creating The [...]
Watch Kid Rock, Travie McCoy and The Roots pay tribute to Rock and Rock Hall of Fame inductees' Beastie Boys.

The 27th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductions took place in Cleveland Saturday night, and while there were a lot of no shows - Faces' Rod Stewart, Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, Chili Pepper John Frusciante, and Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, and Izzy Stradlin - only Axl's absence was booed by fans (according to Rolling Stone ). Duff McKagan, Slash, Gilby Clarke, Matt Sorum, Steven Adler, and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy (in place of Axl) performed some of GN'R's biggest hits anyway, and we've got some fan-shot [...]
And that's no idle boast. Go check out Cancer Bats ' new video for their track 'Road Sick' (taken from their superb forthcoming album, Dead Set On Living ) after the jump if you don't believe us. Fittingly, the 1994 video that we're referring to is - of course - 'Sabotage' by the Beasties Boys , which the boys in Bats famously covered as a single/bonus track from their last album. Now all we need is for the Beastie Boys to cover [...]

I can't claim that I knew much about Don Cornelius, but it's always sad when the world loses a creative spirit. His death inspired me to watch old clips, one of which I thought was fitting enough to share. Twice in the middle of their performance of the Paul's Boutique classic "Shadrach," the Beastie Boys [...]
The past week has been contentious. Republicans attacked other Republicans for (oddly) being too capitalistic and the Iranian government threatened to block the Straight of Hormuz. However, it was the [...]
![[Video] Mike D: Head Grammarian](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3986809_lg.jpg)
Stephen Colbert called in a heavy hitter to settle a crosswords puzzle dispute between New York Times Crossword editor Will Shortz and reader Julieanne Smolinski . The two fought over the definition of illin', trading shots and prompting Stephen Colbert to settle the score by consulting Hip Hop Grammarian, Mike D of The Beastie Boys. Pipe in hand, Mike D. answers the call.
For the past week, the internet has been a party to an entertainingly dumb debate about the exact definition of the archaic hip-hop term "illin'," which was an answer in Saturday's New York Times crossword. While the crossword clue indicated that the term meant "wack," others disagreed, leading to a semantic blood-feud between Times crossword editor Will Shortz and blogger Boobs Radley . Naturally, The Colbert Report decided to solve the dispute once and for all by bringing in the Beastie Boys' Mike D to mock-academically review both claims. The result: Good television! [...]

The big news from last night's The Colbert Report was the launch of Stephen Colbert's presidential campaign, though I would argue that plans for Colbert and Jon Stewart's combination bagel shop/travel agency - From Schmear to Eternity - is some mighty awesome news, as well (watch all of the aforementioned unfold here .) But during the show's second segment, Colbert sought to clear up a dispute between New York Times crossword puzzle editor Will Shortz and freelance writer Julieanne Smolinski over the usage of the word "illin'" with the help of Head Grammarian of the Beastie Boys , Mr. [...]
Australian natives, Regurgitator is a band that can rock hard. Formed in 1994, these men have been around and toured numerous countries including Beijing, China. Their music has a divergent taste from Beastie Boys to Blink 182 . With years of experience, Regurgitator finished a new album back in August titled SuperHappyFunTimesFriends . The music video below is for track, "No Show". It is a spiced remix of a classic Japanese monster film from the 60s. There are wacky colors and doodles to go with the vintage creatures. Lyrically, the song is [...]

With R.E.M. announcing their breakup , the veteran alt rock band from Georgia is releasing their two-disc R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 - 2011 collection on November 15. This got us to thinking about other know personalities who've appeared in music vids in recent years. Head below to watch R.E.M.'s clip with Kirsten, and to see [...]
There are somehow many, many TV shows on cable about people who make dessert foods. Last night, though, only one of those shows had one of the Beastie Boys on it. For some reason, the King Ad-Rock appeared on the most recent episode of the Top Chef offshoot Just Desserts , causing the contestants involved to generally bug the fuck out. He also presented them with a challenge that involved turning bacon and pork and beans into desserts. This show appears to be completely insane. Observe: Read More...
The new Beastie Boys single 'Don't Play No Game I Can't Win' features Santigold on guest vocals. The new Beastie Boys video (err...film) features GI Joe and Barbie dolls...??? It should be automatically assumed with anything labeled 'Beastie Boys', but just in case...this is marked as explicit. (And completely WTF. It was directed by Spike Jonze, if you were wondering whose evil genius this is.) You have been warned. Click here to view the embedded video.
