Filed under: Video , Exclusive , Canada The teenage house party is a time-honoured tradition in music videos, from the Beastie Boys ' party-crashing classic '(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)' to the rose-coloured retro-rager in Smashing Pumpkins ' '1979.' But house parties aren't just about trashing the place and stolen make-out sessions in the bathroom. In the new video for the Mission District 's 'So Over You,' it's also about trashing the place and catching your date making out with someone [...]
Adam Yauch sent a letter out to the Beastie Boys fans regarding his condition and the support he's been getting from fellow artists. Thought I'd share it with the rest of you.hey all, hope you are doing well. so i'm about a week and a half out of surgery now and rapidly recovering from it. i haven't taken any of the pain meds, which supposedly speeds along the healing process, or should i say,

Jay-Z performing at the All Points West Festival. (c) Melanism.com After MCA's terrible cancer diagnosis and the consequent Beastie Boys canceled tour dates, a lot of APW Fest goers were left disappointed ... or were they? Soon after the Beastie Boys had to cancel their appearance at Jersey City music & arts festival, officials announced their replacement will be none other than Jay-Z ! The APW fest underwent this weekend, and, as expected, Jay-Z stormed the massive crowd, kicking off his set with a [...]
If anyone went to the All Points West festival this weekend in Jersey City, NJ then you got, in addition to loads of great bands, something you didn't pay or ask for. Mud. Lots and lots and lots of mud. Since the summer in the Garden State has been somewhat of a wet one, we Jersey residents expected to have our parade rained on. But it rained so much on the final day of the festival that doors didn't open til four hours later and bands had to cancel sets in order to accommodate the time [...]
The All Points West crowd got a special treat last night. Jay-Z came out and performed a cover of the trio's "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" as a tribute to the Boys not being able to be at the festival because of MCA's cancer diagnosis. He then transitioned into one of his new songs, "Brooklyn We Go Hard". Very classy! (via YANP ) There's still no word on who will be replacing the B-Boys at Austin City Limits. Any ideas?
So apparently, the Osheaga administration didn’t think Jay-Z would have been a suitable replacement for the Beastie Boys, putting the Vampire Weekend on the list instead. I personally it’s a load of bull, being that they just banked 300,000$ since they don’t have to pay the Beastie Boys anymore, yet the tickets are still as pricy. Anyway, here’s the one and only proof you need that Jay-Z is bringing the people to ANYWHERE he goes. Hov paid tribute to the Beastie Boys and MCA with an amazing rendition of No Sleep Till Brooklyn followed by Brooklyn We [...]
Via Rap Radar : In a stirring opener on par with his Oasis shocker at Glastonbury, Hov paid tribute to MCA and the Beastie Boys (who he replaced on this show) with a remake of a classic from Licenesed To Ill . It was a cover performance Hip Hop Honors wish they could have. Ha! Good job, Hov. Pigeons and Planes
With the recent announcement that MCA from the Beastie Boys has been diagnosed with a very treatable form of cancer, I thought it would be a good time to revisit these hip/hop hardcore kids."What? Hardcore kids? silverunity, what the fuck are you smoking?"Yes dear readers, when they're not fighting for their right to party, and not suffering from mass amounts of insomnia before they just so
The one and only Talib Kweli recently was in Chicago, and DJ RTC from Ruby Hornet TV had the chance to interview him about a variety of things. Talib talks about where he is at this point of his career and how he has gotten to the point where he is happy with his following. Talib and DJ RTC talk about The Beautiful Struggle a little bit, and they discuss how Talib was able to go on tour with The Beastie Boys, as well as the backlash from fans about the album. A good [...]

MCA has made the announcement that the doctors have found cancerous cells in his lymph node area. I can't tell you how devastated I was (and still am) when I heard this. The Beastie Boys have been one of the most pivotal groups in Hip-Hop since the beginning, and in my opinion they will continue to be. It's unfortunate for all of the fans out there that had tickets to their upcoming shows, but MCA needs all of your prayers at this time to make it to a speedy recovery. Just let it be known that the people at Mind [...]
Beastie Boys cancel all tour dates and postpone the release of Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 . Get Well SOON!!!
The past few months have been good to The Beastie Boys. There was the reissuing of Check Your Head , a successful showing @ Bonaroo and, just this past weekend, the single with Nas made a huge buzz on the nets. But what a swift kick in the nuts this news is for a Monday morning. Like I said, I watched My Sister's Keeper last week, where one of the main characters had leukemia. As I was watching the movie, I started remembering the suffering that [...]
Such terrible news! Watch Adam explain the unfortunate situation below. MP3: Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Bad news to report. According to a video posted on BeastieBoys.com, Adam Yauch has cancer in a gland in his throat. Fortunately it is very treatable, but for the time being it looks like the... Interesting pairing here as we get Nasty Nas linked with the Beastie Boys. Odd but effective. "That Nas + Beastie shit is some unabashed old man rap. I love it." - Deen Indeed and it's a good thing too. "Too Many..." is the first single off their upcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee , which drops on 9.15. Download - The Beastie Boys Feat. I'm stoked on the new Beastie Boys: from Nah Right

The cover of the new Beasties album. So there may be a part two? Yezzir. Beastie Boys were on Zane Lowe BBC radio show last night in a characteristically off-the-wall interview where they also debuted 'B-Boys in the Cut' from Hot Sauce Committee Pt.1 out mid-September, chatted about random topics as they are likely to do and gave an airing to 'Lee Majors Come Again'. Listen to the interview and the 'B Boys in the Cut' in the full post and see the tracklisting for the album and the Hello Nasty [...]
