If we're keeping a tally, and we aren't, Lollapalooza's Saturdays usually end up being the strongest of the weekend. In 2008, it was Rage Against The Machine . In 2009, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs filled in for The Beastie Boys when MCA was first diagnosed with cancer. In 2010, Phoenix played the biggest show of the band's career. And last year, it was front and center for My Morning Jacket . Predictably, 2012's Saturday stacked up as the strongest day of the weekend with the top-billed headliner [...]

It’s a shame that such a sad event in one’s life has had to happen to spark a slight surge of inspiration and reminder about a particular artist’s stream of work. Nevertheless , this next tribute in light of MCA’s (Beastie Boys) recent passing is reformed by the NY DJ duo known as Its Overture who uses the Beastie Boys vocal sample across A-Trak’s remix of ‘Heads Will Roll’ by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Revitalising  unshakable audio standings have just been formed by Its Overture .

NEW RELEVENT JAMS ♫ Peter Bjorn & John - Breaker Breaker / PBnJ are back and wielding way more buzzsaw like-ability than on their last sleeping pill! Wooo! I might start doing this type of post on a regular basis. We tend to get a lot of really good requests for songs at GIGANTIC . Of course, we get asked to play some random stinkers as well, but they don't get much of a look in. We had a birthday party down at the club from early in the night, and it turned out they had super taste in music. I managed to play a good few choices, and this first track was one of them. You can't beat a bit of old school [...]
Rematch by whitepandamusic I have to give so much credit to these guys, I have always been a huge fan of their work. And since their release of REMATCH , The White Panda have gotten a bigger and much more respected name in the blogosphere. Rematch features 47 mash-up tracks with over 100 different samples from various artists. Although this mix-tape is a bit old, I wanted to share it with everyone and show how much work and detail that goes into making a [...]
Culture Bully proudly presents "2009 Mashed," a compilation combining elements of the year that was, represented by the collected efforts of a group of bastard-pop producers from around the world.

2009 may just be the year of the Yeah Yeah Yeah , considering their blazingly original third LP It's Blitz! and the band's monumentally successful North American tour thus far. Now, not only have we received news that Karen O and company are replacing the Beastie Boys at Austin's own Austin City Limits Festival , but KO is helming the entirety of the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack. Check out the video for "All Is Love" below and be prepared to get your yeah yeahs out Austin. [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , UK Yeah Yeah Yeahs joined in with Reading Sunday's last blast festival spirit by performing a set as loud and as colourful as one of Karen O 's notorious stage costumes. Yeah Yeah Yeahs had played Leeds the day before where the crowd was equally wild. Nick Zinner told Spinner before their show, "we had one fan with his face painted, he was looking like the werewolf from our video for 'Heads Will Roll'." [...]

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been announced as headline replacement for the Beastie Boys at the forthcoming Austin City Limits festival. The Beastie Boys were forced to pull out of their slot following band member Adam Yauch 's cancer diagnosis early last month (July). The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be headlining the opening night of the festival on Friday, October 2nd. Karen O ' and Co. also replaced the band slot at the Lollapalooza festival earlier this month. [...]
Saturday's adventures could not begin with out doing one vital piece of preparation: I checked weather.com. Sun and humidity was what I had to look forward to for the day. After Friday, that seemed like a good thing. After actually enduring it for a whole day, I almost wished for the rain back...almost. Being press has a few perks, so I started off at a Playboy party of all things. I dressed up in a cute dress and hoped that I wouldn't look too out of place with my rather average breast size. Fortunately, I wasn't the only [...]

So, another US festival with a painfully outstanding line-up, and another tribute to the Beastie Boys. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - who filled the Beasties headline slot in the 11th hour - paid tribute by closing their performance of Phenomenon with the riff from 'So What'cha' Want', much to the appreciation of the crowd. The band seem to be having a pretty good year. I only realised earlier that I will have seen them three times by the time this year is out. Hope they've still got a few more riotous performances in the vein of their [...]

via Apostrophe Media After last year's experience at All Points West , I was fairly certain that I would never go back. Aside from the headlining Radiohead , I had a long list of gripes with All Points West. As luck would have it, I found myself with a pass for Friday and an opportunity to see Jay-Z, who replaced Beastie Boys as the day's headliner. I made the decision to go, one I'm not sure I would have made in retrospect. [...]

With ominous clouds looming overhead and the threat of a tornado, it seemed that only the most dedicated of music fans trekked to Liberty State Park in New Jersey for the second annual All Points West Music and Arts Festival . The festival, organized by the same crew who run Coachella , has struggled to define itself as an East Coast contender, this year boasting a noticeably heavier and more hip-hop inspired lineup. Fleet Foxes Before the storm hit, Fleet [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Live It Out , Canada This year's Osheaga may have had its fair share of hitches -- from the health-related cancellation of day two headliners Beastie Boys to a very uncooperative weather system. But over the Montreal festival's two days, the fans and performers (ranging from Coldplay and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Crystal Castles and Rufus Wainright ) pulled together and, as these photos attest, the annual fest at Parc Jean-Drapeau produced more [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Electronic , Live It Out , Canada Crowd surfing took on a whole new meaning at Day 2 of Osheaga. As rains pounded and lightning competed Crystal Castles ' flashing white lasers, frontwoman Alice Glass found herself literally carried by the soaked, screaming crowd for part of the duo's brief but electric performance. The Toronto electro band's performance at the Montreal Éléctronique Groove stage began late because Glass and bandmate Ethan Kath had to drive in from [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News After Sunday's heavy rains delayed the opening of the doors at All Points West by four hours and forced the cancellation of acts like the Gaslight Anthem and Steel Train, the festival got its act together in time to close out with headliner Coldplay performing as scheduled. The British megastars performed a number of hits, including a massive singalong to 'Yellow,' and like many festival goers, paid tribute to the Beastie Boys , who skipped the fest due to Adam [...]
The All Points West Music & Arts Festival kicks off today in New Jersey with a stellar mix of indie bands and mainstream giants. From Chairlift to Coldplay, the Ting Tings to Tool, this is the kind of lineup that will keep everyone satisfied. Sadly, the Beastie Boys were forced to cancel their headlining slot tonight due to MCA's recent cancer diagnosis . As he is known to do , Jay-Z stepped up to help out while Yauch undergoes surgery for the treatable illness. Also performing are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, [...]
It's fair to say that the most talked about news in the music world this week was Beastie Boys's Adam Yauch announcing to the world that he had cancer. A tumor was found in one of his Parotid Glands which is located in the back of his throat. "luckily it was caught early and is localized in one [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News In a display of Brooklyn rapper solidarity, Jay-Z has been confirmed to replace the Beastie Boys at the All Points West Festival in Jersey City. Concert organizers broke the news after the Beasties announced they were canceling all of their planned summer concerts -- including their July 31 headlining spot at APW -- while Adam Yauch (aka MCA) recovers from cancer in his parotid gland . Although he'll be making his first American festival [...]
