Coming to the aid of the Beastie Boys , who just announced that they are canceling their upcoming tour in order to provide Adam Yauch with enough time to recover from cancer, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have stepped in to fill the Beastie's now-empty slot at Lollapalooza .
After MCA's cancer diagnosis, the YYYs have slipped into the Beasties' Lollapalooza slot.

New York garage/art rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been tapped to fill the headlining spot at Lollapalooza on Saturday night August 8 opposite Tool . Hip-hop legends the Beastie Boys pulled out after member Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with cancer . The Yeah Yeah Yeahs played Chicago's Aragon Ballroom on May 26 in support of their catchy electronic-pop influenced release It's Blitz! The band also last played Lollapalooza in 2007.

Yesterday we received the unfortunate news that Adam 'MCA' Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid. Luckily the condition was caught early and localized, full recovery is expected. As a result of MCA's illness, tour and album release plans will be pushed out to a later date.
