The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to replace the Beastie Boys at Lollapalooza after the band was forced to drop out. The band are taking the headlining slot on Saturday night (August 8). As we previously reported, the Beastie Boys cancelled their appearance at the bash after band member Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer. Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Only one day after news of Adam Yauch's cancerous tumor and the Beastie Boys cancelling all their remaining Summer tour dates, Lollapalooza has already scheduled the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to replace the New York rappers for their Satuday night (August 8) show. Prior to the release of the Lollapalooza scheduled the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were mentioned to be near locks for the Chicago festival, but were left off the initial billing. As for the remainder of the Beastie Boys cancelled shows, including All Points West and [...]
New York garage/art rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been tapped to fill the headlining spot at Lollapalooza on Saturday night August 8 opposite Tool . Hip-hop legends the Beastie Boys pulled out after member Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with cancer . The Yeah Yeah Yeahs played Chicago's Aragon Ballroom on May 26 in support of their catchy electronic-pop influenced release It's Blitz! The band also last played Lollapalooza in 2007.
That was fast. Yeah Yeah Yeahs have replaced Beastie Boys as co-headliners at Lollapalooza . The Beasties were forced to cancel their upcoming tour because Adam "MCA" Yauch is undergoing treatment for a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. ☛ Nice gig: Local rapper Kenan Bell has been tabbed as the opening act for the upcoming De La Soul tour, which begins Thursday and hits the Key Club on Friday. ☛ Perfect: Kudos to whoever decided to cast St. Louis rockers Living Things [...]
Yesterday we received the unfortunate news that Adam 'MCA' Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid. Luckily the condition was caught early and localized, full recovery is expected. As a result of MCA's illness, tour and album release plans will be pushed out to a later date. Yeah Yeah Yeahs will stand in for the Beasties at Lolla , line-up changes for All Points West have not yet been announced. We're hoping for a swift recovery and hopefully the opportunity to see the legendary Beastie Boys live [...]
I'm gonna miss Osheaga this year. It's sort of bittersweet because I would've loved to go. But I would've loved to go on both days and probably shouldn't spend the $125 for the two day pass. Yesterday, the schedule was released and I can already see a major conflict in interest on Day 1. Both The Roots and Lykke Li are playing at roughly the same time. I wouldn't know who to catch. It's no surprise that Coldplay (blah!) finishes day one and that the Beastie Boys are the last band [...]
PORTUGAL. THE MAN We started out the day with Zach 's suggestion to hit up Portugal. The Man at the Sonic Stage for one of the 30 min acoustic sets. I have a feeling that sentiment will come across many audience members from Bonnaroo's lips. Here's the deal with Portugal. The Man if more people who grew up listening to Rusted Root can make music like this, we're in for a couple good music years. KATZENJAMMER [...]
Welcome to Day 2 coverage of Bonnaroo! Look at my sweet wristband! I’d debated on whether or not to even catch the Dirty Projectors or whether to stake out a good spot for Animal Collective. I decided catching the first 45 minutes of Dirty Projectors would be worth it and man, was I right. The set started with just David Longstreth playing guitar and Angel Deradoorian singing “Two Doves” but soon expanded into full band plus backup singer and extra bassist. I was truly moved [...]
In the words of Bob Marley, one good thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain. Bonnaroo, one of the largest eastern festivals in North America hosted more than 70 000+ people this year with headliners such as Bruce Springsteen, Beastie Boys and Phish. But really, these were just headliners and in my opinion, not the real headliners of the festival. With performers ranging from Of Montreal, the Decemberists, Animal Collective, and Grizzly Bear to Femi Kuti, PUBLIC ENEMY, Erykah Badu, and Murs, you could easily be a neutral fan of the Boss and Phish-or in my [...]
Lessons learned from Day 1 's crash course in surviving Bonnaroo , but not so well-rested (it is hard sleeping in a muggy tent in the Tennessee weather), we awoke early to check out the first real day of Bonnaroo. Thursday was like practice Bonnaroo, which turned out to be much needed for Friday's and the rest of the weekend's adventures. One nice thing about the artists at Bonnaroo is that they are very accessible. So instead of running off to see bands perform on stages first thing Friday morning, I took some time to sit [...]
After four long days, which featured torrential downpours, grueling heat, lots of mud, and an over a hundred of music’s best acts, the 2009 edition of the Bonnaroo Music Festival is now and will forever will be a memory. Join us, while we remember and review the festival that was Bonnaroo ‘09… Hot and muddy. Not your PB&J type of combo for sure - after all, if you've taken a science class, you're probably asking yourself how it can be hot and muddy at the same time. Yet, this and more was the scene [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs replace Beastie Boys at Lollapalooza
Click here to view the embedded video. Now that Adam Yauch of the Beasties is beginning treatment for cancer, the two festivals they were set to headline - Lollapalooza and All Points West - have to find replacements. Lolla's got their replacement with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs stepping in . No word on who's doing the deed at All Points.

YEAH YEAH YEAHS REPLACE BEASTIE BOYS AT LOLLAPALOOZA 2009
Catch 'em on 8/8 at Chicago's Grant Park. The switch comes as a response to yesterday's upsetting Beastie Boys news. Read my review of YYYs @ NYC's Santos Party House here. MP3: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Machine

Osheaga 2009: The Schedule
The peeps at Osheaga finally revealed the schedule with the band line-up for each days and set times. Surprisingly, I only have one conflict on my schedule for the whole weekend and that's between The Roots and Lykke Li but really, The Roots got the upper hand on this one. As the Osheaga organizers likes pointing out, "Line-up subject to [...]

Bonnaroo 2009 [Photos and Review]
Well, it’s two weeks after the fact and I’m finally able to wrap my head around the musical smorgasbord that was Bonnaroo 2009 . 75,000 people descended on Manchester, TN, (population: roughly 9,500 for 361 days of the year), for the festival's eighth year. The musical equivalent of Willy Wonka’s world of pure imagination, Bonnaroo once again transformed the masses into a mellow crew of blissed out Charlie Buckets — just swap the sugar for Springsteen . Thursday, June 11 After a [...]

2009 BONNAROO WRAP-UP
by neil, alex, & muggs The weekend was a break from social convention, an immersion into music of the last 20 years, and a psychedelic adventure in Manchester, Tennessee. An illustrious collection of Brooklyn indie rockers graced the Bonnaroo stages over the four day affair, with some surprise standouts. We've got band by band breakdowns of the most notable performances, as well as the craziest sh*t to go down inside the city of 'Roo. We're giving our ' 09 Best of Bonnaroo awards to [...]
