Last night's Opening Ceremony proved many things, but perhaps more emphatically than anything, it showed that we know our way around a melody. Bowie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Blur, Winehouse, and...er, Fuck Buttons. First and last time we'll hear Fuck Buttons at an Opening Ceremony? Most probably. While Macca led the crowd through a sing-song of 'Hey Jude' the real thrill of the live performances was watching Arctic Monkeys tear through their breakthrough track 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' infront of a billion people. Paul McCartney is set to headline the 2012 olympic opening ceremony. The legendary signer will play the opening of ceremony set to take place in London, the 2012 host city. Organizers for the event had reportedly tried for a possible Beatles reunion as the highlight of the opening ceremony but were unable to secure the reunion as Ringo Starr will be in the midst of a U.S. at the time.
