Beach Fossil's 2010 self-titled album was a summery album, an album that didn't take too seriously at making people weep and sway, but a loose jammer that reminded people of something in the lines of the The Stroke's Is This It . Their new song, "Shallow", brings back the bands senseless ability to display whistle-worthy guitar riffs. Beach Fossils is following the same path as they did on their self-titled album and is recreating a beach landscape that made their self-titled album played all summer long.
Los Angeles' Julia Holter has become something of a name dropper when talking about Los Angeles' current experimental music scene. This DIY artist is making bedroom pop that sounds like music coming from a church choir. "In the Same Room" has a haunting synth in the background, Holters' voice spits out staccato-like phrases, and ambient chords breaks barriers throughout the song.

photo by Sannah Kvist * Today I will mostly be doing the following: monitoring my bruises after last night's epic four-hour slug home; burning effigies of the same evening's final bus driver, who abruptly stopped his vehicle at 3am because he had "finished my shift"; looking outside and admiring the white wonderland; looking outside and hating the white wonderland; ordering take-out; listening to this sexy, slowed-down, sedative Carly Simon cover ( mp3 ) by London acts Alpines (previously featured here ) and Maya Jane Coles ; sleeping. ![[Review/Listen] – Porcelain Raft – "Strange Weekend"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4030446_lg.jpg)
Tweet After a string of neatly arranged EPs, and an opening slot for M83 , Porcelain Raft has finally released a debut album and "Strange Weekend" lives up to the hype. The appeal of "Strange Weekend" comes from the layering of reverb-soaked instrumentation, punctuated by Mauro Remiddi's sweeping vocals. He ranges from crooning bedroom-pop to HEALTH-like vocals, which are textually thinner and sound more ambient. Even though the music is wonderful, the production quality of "Strange Weekend" is light-years [...]

Stream Algodón Egipcio's pair of dreamy jams off the single below.

Click image to download full album Sounds like: Pascal Pinon, Sin Fang, Sóley "Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life (Steffaloo Cover)" What's so good? When I saw Steffaloo's cover songs featured as the Single Serving on Turntable Kitchen, I knew I was going to have to post them here, too. 18yo Rose Keeler-Schäffeler, aka Keel Her and recently moved to London from Winchester, makes raw, scuzzy pop, apparently from the very depths of her bedroom. The music's cutesy, shy sounds contradict with their sometimes-louche titles. [There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Genre: Fuzz Pop, Fuzz Folk This is loud bedroom fuzz pop and the solo effort by someone I don't know. Reptilian Brain sounds like drunken Arcade Fire as one-man band, I mean the melody and the drive reminds me somehow on "Neigborhood 2 (Laika)" by Arcade Fire. A great EP. Nothing more to add. 8,8/10 [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

Brixton duo Glyphs ' second EP, Small Sounds, takes the glitchometer and turns it up to 11. This is the mellowest of alt-pop, lightly-toasted and gently challenging. Turn the lights off, put the candles on, pour yourself a generous glug of red wine, block everything else and just let your mind wander... ( previous post on Glyphs ) Small Sounds EP by Glyphs

Genre: Indie Pop, Singer-Songwriter One year ago, we had the Coldair debut on the desk. So here is the follower of Persephone. ![[Introducing] – Young Yeller](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3827837_lg.jpg)
Tweet Brooklyn's Young Yeller is the solo project of trained classical percussionist Jesse Brickel. His debut EP "Make Me" (released September 7th) displays a sophisticated soundscape conjuring soaring heart-on-your-sleeve prog pop one minute, the next getting back to basics with ambient get-up-and-dance joy. Young Yeller excels at crafting epic bedroom dream pop. "Make Me" rests nicely between the sublime orchestral chaos found in the more upbeat moments of Sufjan Stevens , and the blissful power pop of Mates [...]
