What comes after Vega? Right, Ultra! And Ultra is, how the new Tyskerhar EP and follow-up to Vega EP is called. Tyskerhar still stands for a good portion of video games thrown into the somehow brittle marriage of Cindy Lauper and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Ultra means: 6 brand-new tracks from your favorite Pink-Pong Berlin-Beijing collaboration including a great job from Berlin-based, hungarian Producer and DJ Glideside , doing all the post production. Best thing about all this is: it comes for free! No trade for an email adress, no obligations, no nothing! [...]
It was the well-deserved encore and the Bruar Falls crowd - heavily Asian, how often do you get bands from Beijing? - were bouncing around like crazy. A guy who'd been dancing the whole show jumped on stage and immediately didn't seem to remember why he'd done it. He then tumbled into the drumkit and the amps, bringing Hedgehog 's set to a crashing end. Turns out that dude was the band's U.S. tour manager. Don't let him drive the van guys! This was the first night of Hedgehog's stateside jaunt and the band [...]
"This city is not about other people or buildings or streets but about your mental structure. If we remember what Kafka writes about his Castle, we get a sense of it. Cities really are mental conditions. Beijing is a nightmare. A constant nightmare." - Ai Weiwei , an artist living in Beijing. Read his entire description which paints a very ugly portrait of the city and bureaucratic structure that locked him in prison for three months without reason. Then, stay for the discussion brewing about fascism and socialism and how Obama and the US are [...]
A design company by the name of MAD are creating what they call an urban forest. A high-rise building that is supposed to incorporate apartments and gardens on each floor. It's shape will cater to that landscaping. The skyscraper is set to be built in Chongqing, China. Architects are now thinking environmentally and aesthetically. [...]

Cowboy Junkies Forced to Change Name to 'Cowboy Fan' for Beijing Concert
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Courtesy of Latent/Zoe Earlier this year Bob Dylan made headlines after it was reported he had to run his set list and lyrical content by Chinese government officials for a tour of the country. Dylan posted a message on his site stating that "nobody ever told me about it and we played all the songs that we intended to play." Canadian alt-country band Cowboy Junkies [...]
Bob Dylan happy to take requests from Beijing
Bob Dylan has happily agreed to play dates in China with a set list approved by the government . Sure, it's easy to say things like "remember when Dylan was a protest singer" and "wasn't there a political singer called Bob Dylan a few years back? Whatever happened to him" and "what a craven, spineless lickspittle", but let's not forget what a large market China is. -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain and kvetch
Live The Language
Never have I been so inspired to learn a new language than from these set of videos for EF Language Schools - ok maybe hot French guys have peaked my fancies before ...but i digress... Produced by Camp David , directed by Gustav Johansson and with Niklas Johansson 's direction of photography, the mini commercial videos capture the excitement, uncertainty and romance of traveling to a strange city; learning the language, meeting the people, experiencing new adventures and maybe, even falling in love. Laid to music by Magnus Lidehäll [...]

Bob Dylan discovers forbidden city in Beijing
The Chinese authorities have decided that they don't want Bob Dylan playing Beijing. Or, for that matter, Shanghai . His China tour is thus off. Apparently the Chinese government heard he'd let his music be used in ads for the Co-Op, and concluded that sounded a little too much like socialism for them to be comfortable with him turning up. Whatever the actual reason, Dylan has scythed off a whole slew of other dates: The verdict scuppers Dylan's plans to play his first dates in mainland China. The singer, who plays [...]
Patrick Watson – Big Bird in a Small Cage
Patrick Watson 's third full-length album Wooden Arms did what any good album should do, and divided music critics last year. While some praised it's audacity to experiment with nods for album of the year, others denounced its sound as too organic and went as far as describing the sound as "a group of classically-trained buskers"; while I tend to lean with the latter, I am not far enough over to become part of the busker camp just yet. Sometimes using what sound like household items can make a song (see: Cries of the Dead from [...]
