Beyonce's new theme is everything royal. It seems like she is trying to gain the queendom, is she already didn't. The concerts are supposed to start in Europe and end in the USA. No word yet on Australia, Asia, South America or Africa. Let's hope she stops by in either Beirut or Dubai. Related articles Who Is Mrs Carter? Just came back from The XX live in Paris (at le 104, which is conveniently located 30 seconds down the street from my place, nothing too fancy up in here, really it's the pits). Had a pleasant time with Sabby (Editor of WS.fr with me and one half of the parentals : Mother). We had an enjoyable smooth night sailing through the short-ish set of London's muched talked about trio. They performed a good selection from both Albums and a brilliant rendition of Wham's classic 'All I Want For Christmas". Not to mention some pretty slick guitar and instrumentals on [...]

Nowadays, in the space of just one year, a musician’s career can have a complete twist; going from recording some demos in the bedroom to doing an extensive tour in Europe or the U.S. can fit in a bustling 365 days period. And that’s what happened to Søren Løkke Juul under his moniker Indians ; he initially started making music in his hometown Copenhagen and played his first concert in February of this year. Not even a year after, he has already toured Europe and the U.S. extensively in support of other bands, such as [...]

A BEIRUT MINUTE video: http://www.vimeo.com/41750109 Nickodemus’ first musical love has been hip-hop – in large part because of hip-hop’s ability to convey a poignant social commentary through lyrics and production. This is what drew him and Justin Carty together to form the project “A New York Minute,” released in May 2011 to critical acclaim. The [...]

When it comes to instrumental post-rock bands, few can be named that can make a lasting impact and escape from labels such as "boring music". Explosions In The Sky is certainly one of the biggest references for this, and you might agree with me that - after listening to their sound - Constantina has just joined this small group of bands. The bands sure do have a lot in common sonically, but, in my opinion, Constantina is a bit closer to the likes of Beirut , since they take the effort to explore rhythms of the [...]
Beirut drops this black-and-white video for one of my favorite tracks off The Rip Tide . If you haven't listened to Beirut, you might find this video a little off. Actually, you'll most likely feel that way regardless. Still genius, though - you won't see this playing on MTV. Catch them on tour! Sun. April 15 – Indio, CA @ Coachella Sun. Tweet Listen to Sharon Van Etten 's new album "Tramp" below. If Sharon Van Etten 's new album "Tramp" doesn't make our top five albums of 2012 list, then we'll have had one of the greatest years of music since 1969. Following up her critically-acclaimed 2010 LP "Epic" , she's created a masterpiece in "Tramp" . Introspection, heartbreak, love, [...]

Spoiler alert: Radiohead's not on here // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

Sharon Van Etten's star is definitely rising. Her last album, Epic , was critically acclaimed and helped her secure the foundation of her fan base. She developed a reputation for breath-taking live performances by flooring her audiences with her impressive vocals. And now she is poised to release the follow up to Epic , titled Tramp , which features a who's who of the Brooklyn indie-rock scene featuring Aaron & Bryce Dessner from the National, Zach Condon from Beirut, Julianna Barwick, Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner, the Walkmen's Matt Barrick, and Doveman's Thomas Bartlett. The urgently [...]

Tweet Founded in 2009 by Mark West (former guitarist with Fanfarlo), The Lost Cavalry are a London-based alt-folk five-piece. Releasing their debut EP, "Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills" in 2010 on their personal label, Two Six Heave , they have recently released their EP "Snow City Radio" (also via Two Six Heave ) on November 21st. Upon first listen, it is easy to draw comparisons with Beirut as well as DeVotchKa, albeit with a decidedly more [...]

Well my friends, it's that time of year again! November is a key month in the world of Aaron Loves Meghan... it's the month where we started dating, when we got engaged, and, of course, when we got married. And every year around this time we present our latest Aaron Loves Meghan mixtape! For the newbs, on Nov. 17th, 2007, Megs & I were married and at our wedding (which I iPod DJ'd) we gave everyone there a mixtape called Aaron Loves Meghan and, of course, posted it up on tsururadio. Since then, we've [...]

Excuse the lack of posts lately. A combination of the internet cutting in Ghana, Vodafone's terrible customer service (I ended up driving the technician to my family's house and back) and a move to Madrid caused the jams to take a back burner. Well like always, it's back to the jams. Beirut's newest album has been the official album of the move in, and what an album it is. A great combination of experimenting with expansive sounds while still sounding deeply personal, The Rip Tide has quickly shot up my list of best albums (so [...]
After months and months of scrolling through the muddle that is my RSS feed, I finally weeded out a bunch of blogs that I realize I'm just never interested in, and I also created a new sub-category for "trustworthy sources," which are the six or so blogs that, for me, consistently display solid taste. Now it's a lot easier for me to make sure I don't scroll past those posts that have a high chance of scratching my itch. For most of the tracks below, I've included my source; if you like what you hear, check those links for more [...]

Tweet At the time of Beirut's debut album release it didn't take long for me to find out, and subsequently feel extremely unaccomplished in life about, the fact that Beirut 's songsmith and main man Zach Condon was only 19 years old. Add into the mix the fact that he did everything himself just made me want to quit life altogether. At 21 I was chasing squirrels at 3am, stealing hoods from cars, stealing shoes from billboards, and stealing skating ramps from Universities and taking [...]
