Sorry for not having the music singles chart last week. It was due to being in Toronto for CMW 2012 . Here is a double bill of the chart. In chart #101, there was no change in the #1 spot but there are debuts of acts that impressed me at CMW. But Cousins spends #1 for the second week. In chart #102, things are changed since the release of the new Japandroids single. I had to make it #1 this week. There are new debuts from Best Coast and Beach House. [...]

These tunes are for a lazy afternoon drive. Flight Facilities' track "Foreign Language" put me in the mood, and the rest fell into place from there - this mix is a collection of upbeat, guitar-driven songs that range from the meditative ("Her Morning Elegance") to the festive ("Coulibaly" - a favorite from Mali), to some classic samba ("Disfarça E Chora"). Flight Facilities - Foreign Language Alphawezen - Speed of Light Amadou & Mariam - Coulibaly Oren Lavie - Her Morning Elegance J Viewz - Salty Air [...]

Since we've spent the entire week recounting our favorite albums of 2010, and quite frankly you're probably tired of reading about them, seemed like a no-brainer to end the week by giving a mix tape chocked full of tunes from these 25 HT approved albums. So sit back, enjoy and play it loud…

When I began this listing crazy around the end of November/beginning of December I planned to do posts about each particular album/ep/song that I loved this year. Unfortunately the real world is more important than the blog. Below are my choices for favorite albums of the...

happy new years eve! this is my own personal collection of my favorite songs of 2010. it was a tough decision to narrow down the best from out of 500 tracks, but the below addictions (in no particular order) seemed to take over my speakers for the most of this year. a collection of everything from indie rock, pop, r&b, soul, hip hop, electronica, and acoustics that made music in general feel good again. personally this year was a rollercoaster of happy emotions from moving to florida to starting a new line of jewelry to beginning new friendships to renewing [...]

It's Christmas. YEAH. I don't really know what you are doing on here reading this when you probably should be having fun with new presents and family really. But anyway, enjoy today! Because tomorrow means that we have to wait 365 more days for it to come around again. Above is Bruce Springsteen. Below is a link to my favourite new christmas song, from those dank-adoring lovers, Best Coast & Wavves. Best Coast & Wavves - Got Something For You Also, don't forget this! Go here today to get the new Gorillaz album, [...]

So as 2010 winds to a close (not before Xmas/my birthday!!) and 2011 comes into view it's time for the old blogaroo to name the best albums of the year. Here goes. 13. Massive Attack - Heligoland This one kinda came out of left field for me. Paid absolutely fuck all attention to it around the release date and it probably would've slid under the rug were it not for True Blood using one of the songs from it ('Paradise Circus') in a key scene . I had to [...]

In a developing habit of list-making, here's my top 40 songs released this fine and plentiful year. Think of it as some kind of alternative Top of the Pops. Enjoy. 40. Best Coast, Wavves - Got Something For You 39. Rolo Tomassi - Party Wounds 38. Anamanaguchi - Another Winter 37. OFF! - Upside Down 36. Toro Y Moi - Blessa 35. Everything Everything - Schoolin' [...]

2010 was a year that seemed to be eternally searching for it's sound, looking for music that could kick start the next decade's defining genre and go on to dominate the next generation of teenagers. Sub-genres were amplified, as we heard a lot of angry noise (Sleigh Bells) and shoegazing chillwave (dozens of artists from the East Coast of America), which perhaps reflects our economic times. Elsewhere, just about every other genre made an appearance, so long as you can put an 'ALT' before it. Who goes on to influence the rest and which albums will be lucky [...]
Filed under: The Hit List One of our favorite parts about creating this list of top albums was reflecting on how unpredictable the year was. Be it '90s alt-rockers returning to form, music legends unearthing lost classics, Swedish indie artists producing pop jewels, cartoon bands coming out behind the curtain or disgraced rappers getting to give a "toast for the douchebags," 2010 kept our eclectic and [...]

When Austin City Limits closes out with a riveting performance by The Eagles, the end of the music festival season will have technically occurred, forcing music fans to wait half a year for South by Southwest to restart the whole thing again. We had some good times, though, didn't we? Well, we did, trust me (see here , here , and here ). Of course, there would be no point in writing reviews if they were all good times (see here , here , and here ). But now what? Are we [...]

Vanguard Records I almost ended up repeating myself verbatim from four and a half years ago when the news that Isobel Campbell was putting together a Fall North American tour in support of Hawk , her new record with Mark Lanegan out August 24. Specifically the "Torontonians haven’t seen Isobel Campbell since she sulked offstage from Belle & Sebastian's May 2002 show at the Kool Haus… and then quit the band a couple of weeks later" part. Because, well, it was true then. The [...]
