Here we go, the cream of the crop! My top 10 songs of the year. These are songs that really really stood out this year. These are songs that got constant plays from me and were truly memorable. Welcome to WAWSTSF's #20-11 best songs of the year. These are tracks that were pretty much the best of the best of 2008. These are songs that got my attention all year round and got plenty of play count raises even during the intense album listening period that is winter in order to get an album list ready. Here we go. These are more of my favorite songs than the "best". Since best is an objective term to me these are the songs that I enjoyed the most of 2008 and to me they are songs that I will keep on playing as the years go on. I always wanted to make a best list and see if I actually had the patience and motivation to do one. It never came but now since I have this blog I finally stopped being lazy and tried to put some form of list together. I didn't start my blog until late July and didn't realize I would need to track my songs. No matter how annoyed and pretentious their reviews can come off, we can all agree that Pitchfork does have a great taste in music. Call it a sign of the times -- the death of the album, a bad omen or just an off year -- but I found myself replaying single tunes over and over again. I'm not sure whether I like this abbreviated version of my usually completist musical affection; the stammering and stuttering of a collection of singles cohering around a playlist as opposed to the fluidity of an entire album.
