Best Coast debuted a new cover in dedication to the world not blowing up this past weekend. This is a cover of Skeeter Davis' 1965 hit "The End of The World" and it's pretty sweet. While the typical care-free vibe that takes up so much of Bethany's music is absent, her vocals are chilling in this. This is definitely a lot darker than the original. I wrote about Best Coast back in January when the rain was in fact snow and the winds were arctic, all I could think of was the summer, and the beach. Since then, I've had some summer and lots of beach, spending time down under, relaxing, but Bethany Constatino has been working hard. I'm amazed by the whole nerd movement that seems to have been going on for the last few years. Readymade Breakup 's Alive on the Vine has a diverse range of instrumentation and lyrical elements, but in the grand scheme is a heavily Americana-influenced album.
