Back in December East of the Wall teased on their Facebook page that they were "almost done" writing their new album and considerately informed us it would be a fine time to get "unreasonably excited." Those guys... so humble. Naturally we did indeed get very excited at that excellent bit of non-news... but not as [...]
Whilst trolling Facebook for hot babez last night (for poon-hound Wingerschmidt, of course) I stumbled upon the following nugget of wondrousjoy: Yes yes yes YES, ya'll! One might accuse me of being one of the aforementioned unreasonably excited fellows except I'd say that my excitement is actually quite reasonable; East of the Wall's progtastically unpretentious Ressentiment [...]
New Jersey's East of the Wall are that rare band that appeal to artsy indie types and metal nerds in equal measures; their dazzling blend of technical post-hardcore aggression, melody and indie sensibility is really one of a kind. And the fact that the band kicks so much fucking arse live makes it all the [...]

It all started way out west in subterranean L.A. Some kids had caught on to the fact that the 90's had become a milestone for experimentalist left field electronica, so they began to host an array of underground electro parties to honour their post acid veterans. This was to be the incarnation of the Experimental Liquor Museum, a dance collective that celebrated the off kilter equilibrium of abstract electronica with a slight penchant for neon. It just so happens that one of the leading forerunners of the group was R/D. He quickly [...]
The road leading to post-experimental-progressive metallers East of the Wall's forthcoming Translation Loss full-length Ressentiment has been a long one. The band's initial incarnation was comprised of four of the five members of The Postman Syndrome, whose debut LP Terraforming was met with critical acclaim but whose 2nd album never saw the light of day. [...]
Readers' Choice submissions have been coming in by the boatload lately but I swear I listen to every single one.. it's a compulsion I can't resist. Here are a few favorites from the last several weeks: Chimp Spanner: Another one-man instrumental metal project, this one helmed by Paul Ortiz from the UK (he whose keyboard drum [...]
Once in a while bands will come around and produce some killer wicked sounds that are too good to be left alone. This is the recent case with Middletown, New Jersey's alternative metal quartet, Biclops . Combining stellar guitar work, melodic vocals and astounding screams that would make the Lord of the Pit himself happy with glee, the young quartet is busy in the studio putting the finishing touches on their full-length debut album. The band is currently working with producer Will Putney, whose credits include working with Lamb of God, King Crimson and Clutch. Count me in! [...]
Gotta be honest with you, waveriders. When I first saw this release I just new that the Pope was going to freak. In case you missed it, Pope reviewed the latest CD from the latest incarnation of these bands and he freaked. Read it for yourself, but rest assured knowing that it jumped right on up to the top of The Pope's Best of 2008 list. So I present this tidbit of news to you with profound joy, and a small drool bucket for my gape-mouthed partner. [...]

Happy New Year, Waveriders! I know that most of you will be heading out to some warm and, hopefully, safe place to celebrate the end of 2008 and consume some liquid indulgency to welcome in 2009. So, Racer and I want to wish you all the best. Don’t get behind the wheel after sucking down some sudsy elixir or mixed love potion . . . and remember to wear protection, oh promiscuous ones! Though we love you, we don’t need more of you! To ring in the New Year with hopes of positivity and growth, we’re going to focus on [...]
Following on the heels of their epic and mind numbingly brilliant release, Farmer’s Almanac, Kevin and Matt from East of the Wall graciously accepted our invitation to leave their butt prints in our interview couch. Check out what they have to say about their constant sources of inspiration and where they see their music going in the future. When I was a kid, growing up in a house with Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, and Simon & Garfunkle, the first time [...]
