DJ Premier somehow unearthed a ten minute version of Big L and Jay-Z's freestyle over Milk Bone's "Keep It Real (Freddie Gibb's "Ghetto"). The legendary session went down on Feb 23 '95 in Strech and Bobbito studios. This is probably one of the most treasured tapes in hip hop history featuring two of the greatest if not THE greatest MC's to hold a mic.
One thing Knx has a knack for aside from crafting amazing beats, is reworking songs from other artists. His sound is distinct, so when you hear these remixes it breathes new life into them and they sound like completely different songs. Most people know the original version of this track from the Trespass Soundtrack, which dropped as a promo only 123 back in 1992. Cliff P's "Big L Back" is a tribute to the late mc and a diss to producer/rapper Ron Browz whose also from Harlem, who dropped his version of "Big L Back" a few weeks prior and many Big L fans and fellow Harlemites feel that Browz version was horrible and flat out disrespectful to the late mc so Cliff Po took it apon his self fresh out the hospital to do the legendary mc justice with his version.
