Good Wednesday Morning BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast crew! :) Those who have been following us here for a minute know that we really like Black Rock & Soul Music artist & songwriter Res and have been happy to get trickles of her guest appearances and collabo projects, most recently Idle Warship with Talib Kweli & Graph Nobel . Today's shaping up to be another nice day of mixtape treats and goodies for the BlackRadioIsBack.com download squad... Here's a description [...]

What's good this Monday Morning BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast Peoples! Hip-Hop MCs K & Ness have been on the grind for the past few years as the A-Alikes through their various independent album releases & collaborations), as Source Magazine Unsigned Hype graduates and their powerful People's Army/R.B.G.'z affiliation (which include folks such as stic.man and M1 of dead prez ) promoting pro-Black Revolutionary music vibes. I know sometimes for some this means a possible musical snooze fest (not every group can be a Public Enemy [...]

It's been a minute since I've been able to post up some Black Rock vibes here on BlackRadioIsBack.com, but thanks to our peoples over at Afro-Punk (a VERY excellent site of old and new school Black Rock and Alternative Music folks to check out), a sis is able to drop a cool mix on heads to download to the iPod (or mp3 like device), play on the computer, etc. Check out this dope 20 minute mix below by Afro-Punk's own DJ Skeet Skeet that was made for this year's South by Southwest Conference of [...]

What's going on BlackRadioIsBack.com & FuseBox Radio Broadcast Crew - hope the week has been going pretty well so far. :) We've been working on a lot of projects recently and this is one of them...support if you can and are feeling the concept! The COONBUSTERS campaign of upcoming anti-iCoonery T-Shirt designs and mixtapes was a collaboration initiated by DJ Fusion of the syndciated FuseBox Radio Broadcast/BlackRadioIsBack.com and the Fresh Connection Designs Clothing Company ( http://www.FreshConnectionDesi gns.com ) since the acceptance of ego tripping in the [...]

2009 just seems to be a VERY bad year in regards to great and positive people passing away on the Black Entertainment, Cultural & Music Ends...this was NOT the news one expected or wanted to hear this past weekend. In my personal opinion, Slum Village's "Fantastic Vol. 2" album (1st released on the now defunct Goodvibe Records label) is a modern day independent Hip-Hop classic...constantly rocked it HARD as a part of my personal soundtrack during my last year or so of college over at Rutgers. Sincere Prayers and Condolences to Titus "Baatin" Glover's family, friends, [...]

Good Monday Morning to our BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio crew! :) I wanted to share this great preview of an upcoming documentary movie made by some of the Hip-Hop generation youth in Trenton, NJ.... Dying to Learn, The Effects of Lead on Inner City Children is the first documentary short film produced by the youth media group, IntelligentSeedz (founded by Hip-Hop MC & activist Wise Intelligent of Poor Righteous Teachers ), which set to be officially released in July 2009. IntelligentSeedz is youth-media organization teaches [...]

I personally heard this tragic news with my friend, Bro and radio show partner of the FuseBox Radio, Jon Judah, while in the Columbia Heights area of DC earlier today, first via our FuseBox Radio Twitter account & it's updates about Michael Jackson's heart attack. Through CNN's mobile website on and DC news radio station, WTOP , while on the road we heard the final confirmation of his passing after hearing (and hoping) it was all a rumor. The passing of Michael Jackson was extremely unexpected, not just for his age being only [...]

What's good to our FuseBox Radio Broadcast & BlackRadioIsBack.com supporters this fine Tuesday! Just wanted to share some quality programming to watch from the people over at PBS & Independent Lens that's premiering tonight with the documentary Adjust Your Color: The Truth About Petey Greene . Ralph "Petey" Greene was a Black Radio and TV Legend based in Washington, DC who is also known as one of America's first well known and popular "shock jocks" through his raw and uncensored shows on racism, poverty, sexuality and drug abuse through [...]

I was over at the family gathering for Christmas Dinner and such in MD when news of Ms. Kitt's passing came up on the evening news on TV. It seems like we're losing a lot of pioneering & strong Black Music and Black Entertainment legends left and right in 2008. :'( We extend our condolences from the BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast family to the family, friends and fans of singer, actress & activist Ms. Eartha Kitt. Eartha Kitt, sultry 'Santa Baby' singer, dies By POLLY ANDERSON [...]

Happy Thursday folks of BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast! :) Wanted to share this new music from what's looking to be the new Black Music Supergroup consisting of Hip-Hop MC Talib Kweli , Black Rocker/Singer Res and MC/Singer Graph Nobel called Idle Warship. The track we have available for download below, "Steady", is a pretty fly indication of the potential these folks have to give the music landscape a nice kick in the pants to get a bit more creative with the grooves and such. [...]

Iceberg Slim was born as Robert Lee Maupin in Chicago, Illinois on August 4th, 1918 to a single hard working single mother (who was both the owner of a beauty shop and a maid). Born and raised into abject poverty, most of his childhood was spent in the midwest, particularly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois. Being abandoned by his father, Iceberg Slim never really had a strong paternal influence in his home, just various men (most not with good intentions) who drifted in and out of his mother's life. [...]

Grace Jones - the overall kind of crazy (mostly in a good way) New Wave, Funk & Disco Music Artist and Actress - has just had a new album last week under my radar called Hurricane on the Wall of Sound label. So far, it's only out as an import release (boo) and is the first offical album released by her in over 19 years (2 albums during that time were never released and shelved). The producer line up looks absolutely crazy on point [...]

Hey there BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast family! :) We wanted to share this dope African Hip-Hop compilation with folks that we downloaded this weekend that was put together from the folks over at the cable channel Cartoon Network (from their Adult Swim part of the business) & Williams Street Records called African Swim . There are some very serious beats and flows here in over 5 languages showing a lot of the different African cultures in Hip-Hop form...hope you all enjoy this interesting collection [...]

Sad... I personally saw the Imam speak a few times while younger in the D.C. Metro area along with my stepfather (R.I.P.) who had converted to Orthodox Islam through his leadership after a period in the Nation of Islam in the 1970s and the split between the Nation of Islam after Elijah Muhammad's death. Another great and solid Black American leader with some strength and sense who wanted to not just help out his community in the States but beyond is now lost to the Earth (and for my Islamic family who checks out BlackRadioIsBack.com [...]
